Ahhhhh, the one redeeming factor about overnighting in south Nashville is the fact that the Country Inn and Suites was a really great hotel!!! The breakfast was fine....except the one-bean pot of coffee that so surprised me by it's pale tea-like color that I asked the breakfast room staff person if the coffee was done!!! Yep....it was....and yet, it wasn't!!!! WHEW.....it was the most tasteless cup of coffee I believe I have ever, ever experienced!!!!! But, the rest of the layout for breakfast was great. Soooo, I highly recommend that if you are looking for a place to stay for a night.....or for several nights....that you get yourself to the Country Inn and Suites, just off of I-24 on the south side of Nashville.(Just bring your own coffee)
We finally got everything loaded......again for the third time in three days.....and we were on the interstate by 10:45.....yep, it gets a bit earlier each morning. And.......as in the past two days, the stops were many and for a variety of reasons, but usually related to the two little girls' needs and wishes, as well as feeding Max every 3-4 hours. We arrived in Washington around 6pm.......after almost an exact 1100 miles from St. Pete. Stopping at Chico's Mexican Restaurant, we ate a quick meal......and one that I hope will not be repeated!!! Yep......my plate was covered in food, but the food was covered in spicy Chile Pepper(ground)......YUK!!!!! Everything had the chile pepper taste.....and it was very evident visually on top of each food item. Not any kind of salsa, not any kind of Mexicano sauces.....but just plain old ground chile pepper. I couldn't even begin to eat half of this plate of food.....it all tasted exactly the same......and, the salsa brought prior to the meal tasted just like.......sauce with tons of chile pepper (ground) permeated throughout the "salsa"......and it was not salsa!!!!! UGH!!!!!
Outside of that dreadful meal, the trip was uneventful.....and the girls and Max did very well over the three partial days of driving the 1100 miles.....I say "partial" because we never did get started until late morning....stopping by 5-6pm for the kids' sake. Sooooo, in seven days, the 1st Lady and two granddaughters and myself covered 2350 miles of highway miles.....with only a two day break in St. Pete!!!!! And, this.......after having driven 7000 miles during the previous 8 weeks......WHEW!!!!! Time for a great break.....right????????????????
We are at Dr. Jeni and Darrel's home and will be here tomorrow as the 1st Lady needs to take care of some billing for his business, plus we do want to spend another day with Max and the girls. Then on Tuesday, we plan to return to our stick and brick for an unknown period of time....................???????????
A very busy seven days.......a couple of very flat buns attached to the sagging hulk of Me........and a much needed rest to come........and with a new little grandson, I feel very strongly that......
LIFE IS JUST REALLY, REALLY GREAT!!!!!!......And, I hope it is for all of you, also!!!!!
