Florida DAY 1: A LONG day of driving down the road........

Having stayed the night at Dr. Jeni's......we were up and on the road, leaving Washington, MO at 6:45am........and arriving in sw STL in I-44, we slowed down drastically with a huge traffic jam in all lanes, so we just crept forward little by little.....and once we had reached I-270 and went east on it, we were "free" and rolled right along.

FOURTEEN hours later we arrived in Macon, GA.....and got a hotel room in a rather average-to-below room for $39.00 plus coupon......and it works fine for our purposes of just getting our bodies in a horizontal position, as well as getting Meghan and Ava some exercise, baths, and then settled down for a few hours. It was an easy drive for me.......but, I'm certain that the 1st Lady and granddaughters are exhausted from just sitting for such a long time. Now.....don't get the wrong idea......I DID stop often....not certain we missed any McDonald's on the entire trip.....hahhaa. As I said in May.......I forget just how many times it is necessary to stop when traveling with young children!!! They are just not capable of coordinating their potty stops with the meal breaks, drink breaks, and gas stops......so, it is necessary to stop more often to take care of those young bodily needs. We did cover about 700 miles today......with about 350 miles left for tomorrow.

And so.....it was a good day, a LONG day......and the little ones were close to perfect in behavior for those many, many hours of sitting. THANK God for the tech advances which keeps young minds active and helps to make those hours of sitting fly by faster than when most of us were their age and only had the "alphabet game" to take up our time in the car.

Tomorrow we push on southward......and would like to arrive shortly after lunch, but that plan may fall apart because I imagine that they will want to sleep longer and that will delay our departure.....and our arrival in St. Petersburg/Clearwater. Oh well.........that's ok, too......because......

LIFE IS REALLY, REALLY GREAT!!!!!....And, I hope it is for all of you, also!!!!!

Wow! Congrats to all involved parties! We just made that same trip! I think my babies are a little older, but a long car ride is still a long car ride!
