Day 21: Just a Gorgeous Day.....one of the best in some time!

When I came downstairs this morning I could tell that it was really sunny outside, even with the day/night shades pulled down. And.....it WAS!!! I let the 1st Lady sleep until 8am.....and then awakened her. A bit later after she came downstairs, I took care of the morning rituals. Then....it was time to enjoy a couple of mugs of hot, steaming French Roast coffee....the beans I ground last night! GREAT!!!!

A little after nine, Charlie called and said they would pick us up for the scheduled morning bicycle ride.....OUR scheduled ride. And....sure enough, at 9:30 here they came on their bikes, and with helmets, and very quickly we were following them out of the RV Park, onto a couple of the town's streets.....and soon we were pedaling down the paved bike trail. This was only a very, very tiny part of the entire trail that goes from the border of Quebec/Ontario.....all along the banks of the waters of the St. Lawrence and then curves around and goes down to Niagara-on-the Lake, near Niagara Falls!!!!!!! WHAT A TRAIL!!!!!! WOW..........

So, for the next 2.5 hours we rode, stopping to view the riverside..the old abandoned locks....the scenic viewpoints.....and the historical markers. Honest to God.......this is some of the most beautiful areas and viewpoints I have ever seen......sooooooo clean and pristine!!!!! We just fell in love with what we were seeing.....and, at the same time, realized our strong feelings for this great land, this great country, and their people!!!!

We wound up at the city park area where the "Canada Day" celebrations will be held tomorrow....July 1st!!! Then we returned to the RV Park by biking through the side streets and then returned to TheHowserHouse..........an incredible ride through an incredible area of this country!!!!!!!

The afternoon was spent in doing a few things around the rv....and then preparing dinner for Charlie and Katherine. They arrived right on time....and for the rest of the evening, the four of us enjoyed many hours of good wine, good food, and great times together as our conversations evolved from one topic to another.........which we kept on the light side with many laughs....... and we enjoyed this great friendship that has deepened in the last few days!!

And sooooo, another day has slipped away as we have paused in our travels long enough to spend some quality time with Charlie and Katherine!!! WOW........WOW...........

LIFE IS JUST INCREDIBLY GREAT!!!!!!.....And, I hope it is for all of you, also!!!!!

Day 21: A GREAT day for Sailing!!!

Ahhhh......this morning, we once again slept a bit longer than usual, but we didn't miss out on anything by doing so. We did some routine chores around TheHowserHouse......and the 1st Lady took care of some of her billing work for our son-in-law's business. Then Charlie called and wanted us to go sailing with him and Katherine.....and, we said YES, of course.

So, after lunch they picked us up....and we drove out to the Yacht Club where they have their sailboat....the Karisma. We loaded the boat with a few things to drink.....and we were soon on our way out onto the waters of the St. Lawrence River. This being my first time to go sailing, I soon found myself at the helm and steering the boat........a new experience for this sagging hulk of me!!!

It was a great afternoon as we went around some of the islands and just enjoyed the gorgeous weather and each other's company. I learned a bit about "tacking"......as the sails had to be shifted from one side of the boat to the other as we made the turns back and forth to go up against the current. As the afternoon disappeared, we returned to the bay by the Yacht Club and went into the slip. Soon we were at the Clubhouse and enjoying some wine as we sat on the screened veranda overlooking the St Lawrence waters........and such fun as the conversations flowed through many topics as we met other club members, many of whom had such intense British accents.

After a wonderful dinner.......and more wine......we had Lemon Meringue Pie which Katherine had fixed......WOW.....another award-winning pie by her!!!!!! My hulk is sagging more with each passing day......

As darkness descended, we went back to the boat and went out on the waters again.....and soon were watching a marvelous display of fireworks over the waters set off by the great people of Long Sault, Ontario. It was MUCH better than the display we saw from the Skylon Tower in Niagara Falls!!!!! We sat and enjoyed the quietness of being out in the boat for an hour or so after the fireworks and then returned to the bay.....and then back to TheHowserHouse. A GREAT DAY!!!!!

We changed our plans and will not leave here until Thursday as we all four are planning to go to Montreal on Wednesday.....just a day trip. Then on Thursday we will be going to Quebec City for a few days.....

How can I say it any other way, except.....

LIFE IS INCREDIBLY GREAT!!!!!!!.....And, I hope it is for all of you, also!!!!

Day 20(Saturday): A day to relax and catch up....

Hmmmm......the 1st Lady and I both slept in for longer than usual yesterday morning. It was after 9am when she roused herself.....and from that time on, we decided it was a day to just enjoy doing mainly nothing.

The rains came slowly and went and then came again, which made it not so pleasant to be outside for any "sight-seeing". So.......we took care of the morning rituals and then went to do a bit of shopping. Groceries and Walmart were the mission and, for the most part, I believe we completed the mission successfully. We also filled the truck with expensive fuel.....another $140 worth!!

We then dropped by Charlie and Katherine's home for a brief visit.....and at that time, we made plans to go square dancing with them here in Cornwall!!! Returning to TheHowserHouse, we put away the things we had returned with.....and then just relaxed, read, talked.....and enjoyed the afternoon.

After a small, light supper, we were picked up and off we went across town to the school where the dance was to be held. Arriving there, we met several other people.....including a couple whom we believe we have danced with before, as they winter in the RGV and had squared danced down there, also. It was really fun and great exercise to be doing this again!!!!!! And, as I have said....sooooooo much fun!!!!! Loved it!

Afterwards we went back to Charlie and Katherine's home for a drink and some desert.....WOW!!!! FRESH STRAWBERRY PIE!!!!!! And, soooooooooooooo good, it was!!! My mouth waters thinking about it.....

Home again.....we crashed and slept all night without hearing a thing!!! And.....Yesterday, Saturday was a wonderful day......which only makes me more assured that....

LIFE IS REALLY GREAT!!!!!......And, I hope it is for all of you, also!!!!
