Ahhhh, but the alarm clock went off at 6am this morning.....and after a quick run-through of the morning rituals, a quick part-of-a-cup of Fr Roast, and then Rachel and I were off to the airport......in Cleveland, OH....about 225 miles away!!!!!! (Of course, I took the rest of the pot of coffee with me). The only problem was in getting through the border checks........sat there in line for 40 minutes on the Peace Bridge between Canada and the US at Buffalo, NY. A bit disconcerting as I wasn't certain just how long it would take to get there.....road construction, etc., etc. And.......I had to get Rachel checked in early as there were hoops to jump through......as she would be traveling as an unaccompanied minor on the flight.
However, once we were through the document and passport checks with several question to answer, we were once again on our way! We made a couple of stops for rest room use....and then arrived at the International Airport in SW Cleveland about 11:45am. We parked in the garage and then went straight to the Southwest Airlines counter to get her checked in.....and then I had to fill out some paperwork....and she was then given a pouch to carry around her neck with all of her info inside it. I also put in her new passport for ID purposes.....
Then we went through security and down the concourse to the restaurant area. Burger King was the choice of the day for Rachel.....and we ordered and then sat by the window watching a few planes come and go. Not toooo much activity there at the noon hour!!!!
I must say that the airport facilities were a bit stale.....and in need of some repairs and just.....some general cleaning!!!!! I was not impressed......!!!!!
We went to the gate.......and waited about an hour....and then Rachel was the first person to go aboard, since she was being accompanied by a representative of Southwest Airlines. They were really nice and so very concerned about her and her welfare!!! I remained there at the gate until the plane lifted off for St. Louis, as per requirements for sending an unaccompanied minor on their plane.
Back to the truck I went.....and very quickly I was on the interstate and headed northeast across part of Ohio along the Lake Erie area.....through a corner of Pennsylvania, and then through a corner of New York before reaching Buffalo and the border. Once again......back across the border into Canada, but this time with only a 15 minute wait.
A quick stop to refuel with the diesel for tomorrow's trip.....and then I was back in the RV Park where TheHowserHouse was sitting with the 1st Lady preparing a bite to eat. It was 7:30pm.....a long day of about 460 miles, plus a long three hours in the airport!!! WHEW!!!!!
We leave tomorrow for Milton, Ontario....where we will be at the Milton Heights Campground for Tues and Wed nights, before moving northeast to Cornwall, Ontario, on Thursday. We plan to bum around in Toronto and seeing some of the sights there with the short time we will have. NOW.......pretty sure I will NOT have internet service there!!!!! So.....hang on for a couple of days, ok?????
Fear Not!!!! The sagging hulk of me will return as soon as possible!!!!!
LIFE IS REALLY INCREDIBLE!!!!!!.....And, I hope it is for all of you, also!!!!!!
