Day 47: GRAY, Cooler,......and, a could-be expensive incident!!!!!!

Awakening around 7am......I could tell from the lack of brightness from the skylight over the shower that it was cloudy outside. We can't complain here at all about this!!!! A cloudy day with cooler temps is quite acceptable by those of us down here since almost everyday is gorgeous....so we can handle it!!

I enjoyed my morning Fr. Roast coffee with all of the shades open and with all of the windows here in TheHowserHouse......it is always very enjoyable to just sit and enjoy the outside while I am inside. Ivisited with the 1st Lady on the computer using the Skype program......where we can talk/visit and through the webcams on the laptop where she is and where I am, we can see each other.......all for FREE!! After visiting with her, I realized that I had not taken my morning meds......My PP's is what I refer to them as......you determine what the two letters stand for....haha!!

Soooo, I went into the kitchen, got my pills, and then went back into the den to get my bottle of water, popped the pills into my mouth, and took a large mouthful of water from a water bottle.....and OMG.....I somehow swallowed the pills and the water and some of the water decided to take the wrong pathway south.....and I began choking and gagging!!!! It seemed to go on for a bit more time than I am certain it actually did, but it wasn't pleasant....and then all of a sudden water came out my nose and shot out my mouth and over my lap......AND....AND.....a portion of the coughed up water landed on my laptop keyboard!!!!!!! AND, the computer was turned ON!!

OMG......I quickly turned it over, unplugged it, removed the battery, but by that time it had already shut down........and.......I went into panic mode! I shook it, but a very, very small amount of drops of liquid dropped out......... Putting it down, I found my manual for the Toshiba laptop, found the 800 number and finally reached a human being somewhere on the other side of the world. No help there..........I was hoping to locate a Toshiba service repair place down here in this area, but no luck. Sooooo, I grabbed the thick Yellow Pages/Phone Directory for this RGV area.....and began calling some computer repair service places.....and, of course, this is Sunday and no one answered!

Three years ago, I turned over a full cup of coffee into my laptop....and by rushing it up to the Toshiba Service Center within two hours, I was able to save it, replacing only the keyboard. But......this was not to be this morning. I grabbed it up and headed for McAllen....about 15 miles from here up the four lane expressway, however............... not one place was open. Soooo, over to Best Buy....and after talking with the Geek Squad guys there, the only thing they would do is to ship it out to some repair center somwhere in the country. Not the option I wanted!!!

Soooo, after a stop at a W-M Supercenter, I returned to the resort, took what few things I could out of the computer....I'm not comfortable with really taking it apart....and then turned the small floor fan on it.....and it has been there since early afternoon. Nothing more dripped out of it.....but, everything I could find on Google, and from many friends on Facebook who replied to this bad situation, the fan seems to be the best hope for getting it dried out when there is not repair techie around. I did call a computer "specialist" here at the resort, but he confirmed that what I am doing is the best thing to do.

I do believe that I will not attempt to start it up until I get to one of the computer service shops in McAllen in the morning.......and just keep my fingers and toes crossed!! This incident has completely taken over my day......which has made me sink deeper and deeper into myself......an incident that I could do nothing about, nothing to prevent it from happening......but just an event that took over my body and then turned my day....and, perhaps, my wallet... upside down!!

I have called the 1st Lady twice to tell her about this, but she has been busy with the grandkids each time. Choking to death might have been easier to deal with.....as she may do me in over this....if we have to purchase another new computer.....this one is only four months old!!!!

OK......I am having to really work to say my usual ending of this blog, because today certainly was not a great day for me, however...........in comparison with the HUGE problems of sooooo many others out there in cyberspace who have lost their jobs, their homes, their retirements.......this is not nearly the Life threatening situation as they are dealing with, soooooo, as always.......

LIFE IS GREAT!!!!!.....And, I hope it is for all of you, also!!!!
