Day 59: HOT, windy, and lots of social activities!!!!

WOW......what a really warm day....errrrr, perhaps you could almost say it was a HOT day......and believe the temps were in the low to mid 90's this afternoon with a very warm wind out of the south. But.......you will not find me with any complaints!!!

After the morning rituals, the 1st Lady and I were off to Mercedes where breakfast was being held for the Cedar Creek RV Owners Club members who are here in the RGV. This was the 3rd annual breakfast for Cedar Creek members......and it was lots of fun.

We met at 9:30 at Mingo's Restaurant.....a Mexican-American "mom and pop" restaurant which serves just really great food at prices sooooo low that it is difficult to understand how they remain open........other than the fact that they are BUSY, BUSY, BUSY at all times of the day! We had fourteen members there hailing from Nevada, New Mexico, Kansas, Missouri, Wisconsin, and Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. And.......it was a wonderful breakfast with really great food and so many funny stories and laughable comments. Such great fun with such great friends!!! My breakfast???? I once again had the Huevos Rancheros.......eggs covered in salsa, crispy hash brown potatoes, refried beans, and the most wonderful fresh made corn tortillas(in place of toast, thank God). There was also a very spicy hot salsa made with jalapenos and onions available in small bowls to use.....and it was just really good on top of the eggs and on the hashed brown potatoes!!!!!! It was a large plate full of super food......and the cost???? $3.45!!!!!!!!!!!

We returned to the resort about 11:30.....and as the 1st Lady went to the laundromat in our section of the resort, I changed into my "work" clothes to take care of ALL of that white crap that was left all over my truck yesterday under that tree in the parking lot where we leave our vehicles prior to going over to Mexico. OMG......it was not easy to remove it all....and with the winds blowing very strongly at that time, the truck would be dried before I could chamois the hard water off it....and so, it almost became a losing battle with the wind and the water. However, I kept at it.....and after about an hour, I WON the battle......and it really looks much, much better. HAHAHA......I even had to hose off the concrete site/patio where I washed the truck because there was soooooooo much crap...literally....on the concrete!!!

This afternoon......I laid in the chaise lounge outside that lays almost completely vertical....and dosed and enjoyed the breezes which replaced the strong winds of earlier. VERY relaxing, to say the least!!!!

John Craig of Wisconsin, who had arrived yesterday afternoon came over in his golf cart....and we drank a beer and visited for over an hour, getting to know each other a bit more. And when he returned to his Cedar Creek.......I helpe the 1st Lady get ready for Happy Hour on the patio of TheHowserHouse. We had three couples drop by.......and for the first time, the 1st Lady took some fresh tortillas, quartered each one, and then fried them quickly in heated oil......salted them with Kosher salt......and OMG, were they ever, ever good. We had some raspberry and chardonnay salsa which we had not served before......WOW...WOW!!!!! Incredible flavors......and really great on those homemade tortilla/taco chips........soooooo damn good!!!!

Tomorrow, we will have a Cedar Creek Happy Hour and hopefully, everyone can be here before two couples of the group begin their journey home. There are always such great times when we are together........we have all become such wonderful friends!

And sooooo, another day in the RGV has come to a close. Lots of great food once again......and lots of fun times. How can it be anything else but........

LIFE IS JUST REALLY, REALLY GREAT!!!!!!......And, I hope it is for all of you, also!!!!!!
