Day 54: COOL.....but a beautiful day!!!

WOW.....we had to turn on the furnace early this morning....as the temps dropped into the lower 40's.....UGH!!!! However, once that sun came up over the tall palm trees, warmth spread over the resort, and inside TheHowserHouse as I opened the shades and allowed that golden warmth to fill up our home-on-wheels!!!

After the morning rituals, a few Sunday morning talking heads programs on the television, and three cups of Fr. Roast coffee, the 1st Lady and I went over to the Don-Wes Fruit and Veggie Market, across the street from the Flea Market. We loaded up on fresh veggies and fruit.......and brought them back to TheHowserHouse a little after 12 noon.

The afternoon was spent preparing for our dinner with Pete/Jane, Buzz/Moe, and Paul/Suzanne over at Pete's RV. The 1st Lady and I prepared garlic shrimp, pushed them onto a skewer and then basted with garlic butter as we grilled them for a few brief moments....and WOW...they were wonderful. We also grilled some fresh asparagus that we had drizzled EOV on, salted and peppered them and then put them on the grill for about three or four minutes. YUMMY!!!!!

Others grilled steaks, burgers, and then we had a mixed salad, potato salad, french fries, and all of this was after we had some just incredible tortilla's which had been quartered and then fried in oil, salted, and then topped with cactus salsa and/or jalapeno topped with melted cheese. OH SO GREAT!!!!

Dessert was a crock pot concoction with cherries, pineapple, nuts, and a cake mix that was all slow cooked together and was WONDERFUL!!!!!! Suzanne fixed this, but the recipe came from Linda, a Cedar Creek member from the Kansas City area. Thanks to both of you for sharing this wonderful way to end a great meal!!!

And, this evening???? We watched the Academy Awards......and OMG, OMG....it was the best PRODUCTION of any Awards show that I have ever watched.......and I watched these Academy Awards all of my Life!!!! Who ever put this together deserves a special Oscar for this marvelous production!!!!! If you missed, you really missed a wonderful show.......and, it was NOT like the boring show of soooooo many previous years!! It was totally different.......just wonderful!! And....I heartily agree with the Best Picture: "Slumdog Millionaire", as I wrote about last night.

A wonderful day, albeit a bit cooler than normal......but, with the great weather, the great friends, and another great meal, plus the Awards Production tonight just really enforces my feeling that.......

LIFE IS INCREDIBLY GREAT!!!!!.....And, I hope it is for all of you, also!!!!

I love two things in this article - that you call her the 'first lady', and the phrase "crock pot concoction". It's incredibly fun to say.
