After a cold night here, three miles from the US-Mexican border......today was a gorgeous day....with the highs in the l0w 70's and an almost perfectly clear sky of a wonderful blue. And....the forecast is for highs in the 80's over the weekend......YEAH!!!!
I stepped across the street and picked a couple of fresh ruby red grapefruit off the of the tree......and they were just wondeful.....sooooo sweet and sooooo juicy!!! WOW!!!! WHY can't we ever get this kind of grapefruit in Misery????????????????
I spent most of the morning finishing our set up for the TheHowserHouse for the next two months. There was still quite a bit to do......re-arrange the basement and get the patio chairs out along with the BBQ grill and a new table that we purchased in Arizona last year. The 1st Lady finished getting some bills paid, got our entrance card for the gym here in the park, and a few other chores that she needed to finish. I also got her bike fixed up, went to the Park Office and picked up a modem for the internet access as the wifi sucks here. TOOOOO many people sharing it in this section of the Park.....and it is soooo damn slow that most pages cannot finish downloading. Since the box with the modem did not have instructions, they will send out a person to install it for us, even tho I did it last year without a hitch.
I spent some time visiting with our neighbor from Montreal.......and then met his wife, who speaks no English. Gilles has a great command of English, but then he has spoken it in his job for years. He did ask if his accent bothered his English.....but there is hardly any accent in his pronunciation. He has asked us to visit him in Montreal when we are up there this upcoming summer.....and we probably will do that.
Our electrical problem is still there.....but is not bothering us. We just be careful not to overload the system......otherwise it trips the breaker out on the power post beside TheHowserHouse.
I had a bit of lunch out on the patio sitting in the brillian sunshine......it was terrific. As usual here in the Valley.....the breezes are always moving the wind....however, it was very pleasant today!
Later this afternoon we went to the fruit/veggie market. It was a bit late to go, but OMG, the pineapples were soooooooo incredibly tasty and sweet!($2.00)!!!! We bought one, which the seller cored and peeled on his little machine......and brought it home. We also purchased some small tomatoes, some HUGE carrots, large fresh red and yellow peppers($.75 each). We also bought a huge cabbage and some bananas. From there we went to the nearest Wally World which was PACKED with people......and stocked up on some necessary food items.
This evening I called and visited with a Cedar Creek RV Owners Club member from PA. He and his wife....and the 1st Lady and I are planning to get together next week for lunch. I encouraged him to come to our International Rally in Indiana next June.....and he said they are thinking seriously about being there!
And so......our first full day here in the Rio Grande Valley has been a good one. Tomorrow??? Well, nothing planned.....we will just enjoy the moment(s) and see where the day may lead us. No matter where it takes us, though..........
LIFE IS GREAT!!!!!!!.....And, I hope it is for all of you also!!!!!!
