Day 6: WOW!!! WARM and WILD WINDS!!!!!

Another incredible morning.........and it was very evident that it was going to be really warm. And......soon the winds began to blow....and blow......and BLOW!!!! We had our breakfast.......puttered around.....and then left for Mexico(Progreso). It doesn't take but a few short minutes and we are at the border.....the bridge across the Rio Grande. Parking was a breeze....$2.00.....and then $.25 to walk across the bridge.......and voila!!! We were in Mexico.....colorful Mexico.

The first store on the Mexican side???? A wonderful liquor, beer, perfume, and cigarette store......and it was fun to browse, but we didn't buy anything. Did look at a lot of prices on the liquor, but we really didn't consume all that we purchased 11 months ago when we left here so there is no need.......at least right now......to purchase any more.

From there on........we stopped in all of the little shops and stalls, as well as the Farmacias.........the pharmacies where many, many of the drugs/meds that we need scrips for you can just buy across the counter AND...for a lot less money. We did some comparison shopping, not buying, but made some notes on some of the meds and their prices. The lines are ALWAYS long to get to the counter.....soooooooooooooooooooooooooo many Winter Texans come here to get their meds at mucho cheaper prices. And.........I can't being to even give you an idea how MANY Farmacias there are in the two man blocks of the main street.....where everything happens. There are tons and tons of them........sometimes three in a row, side by side. The other main shops were Dentistas......dentists. And...I do believe that there are more of them than anything else in the town!!!!

Dental work? They do it all......very cheap....and there are some dentists here, according to those who have used them year after year. However, it is certainly not as cheap as the 1st Lady and I get ours done for.........de nada.......nothing! Sure is nice to have a daughter who is a dentist and who does our dental work!!!!!!!

About 1pm.....we decided it was time to replenish our bodies....both with liquid and food. Sooooo, one of our very favorite places in Progeso last year was "The Red Snapper".....and up the stairs we went. First......we ordered Margaritas......two for the price of one Happy Hour specials. Of course........it is Happy Hour ALL day long....hahaha. GREAT!!!!! Then we ordered the Fried Shrimp dinner.......OMG!!!!! The six shrimp were butterflied......and they were soooooo big....and ohhhhhhh sooooo gooooooood!!!!!! Such a fresh taste.....and so little batter on them.....and oh so wonderful! Of course, by the time we left there, we both were feeling our Margaritas........definitely.

A bit more shopping and walking and looking at so many items. I picked up a box of my favorite Mexican cookies.......they are superb with coffee and/or tea.....and I was excited to dive into them this evening with my nightly cup of tea. The 1st Lady purchased a few things for gifts for later on this spring........and then we decided to head back to TheHowserHouse. We have two plus months here....and there will be many trips over for lunch/dinner and drinks during this time. We have some friends who are considering coming down to see us.......and I CERTAINLY hope they can make it.........lots to show them and lots to do. COME ON DOWN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Back home......OMG......the winds were horrific!!!! THANK GOD we were not attempting to drive.....because it would have been ATTEMPTING!!!! Doubt that we could have driven very far with TheHowserHouse in tow with these winds........35mph with gusts up to 40mph plus.

The evening? We watched "The Amazing Race"........and sure were not happy that the last couple to arrive at "the pit stop".....were the last to arrive. We hope/hoped that they would win......but who knows? They still could.........maybe.

Tomorrow.......warmer and more high winds. We have a busy schedule ahead of us for Monday........line dancing in the morning for the 1st Lady.....and then we go square dancing tomorrow afternoon over at another RV park. A Dancing Day!!! And with today's fun, food, and frivolous shopping.........

LIFE IS REALLY GREAT!!!!!!.......And, I hope it is for all of you, also!!!!
