Day 10: OMG........what a FUN, FANTASTIC Evening!!!!

Ahhhhh......how did I possibly know that the slow morning here at TheHowserHouse, sitting only three miles from the Mexican border, would later become the most fun evening we have had in the past 10 days?????!!!!!

The 1st Lady was up and gone by 10AM this morning.......her Line Dancing Class again. Me??? I slowly consumed and enjoyed my French Roast coffee while I caught up on the latest news from the NY Times and the Washington Post papers which I read online each day. While the 1st Lady was gone, I cleaned the inside of TheHowserHouse, vacuuming the carpets, dusting, and just doing some general cleaning after 9 days of living here. She returned around 11:30.....and we had a small bit of lunch before we left to return to the Rec Hall/Club House for our square dancing lessons.

Our new friends, Donna and Danny from Highland Kansas, did arrive and for the next two hours we had a real blast as we learned some more of the basic calls (their are 30+ in all), and laughed at some of the silly mistakes we made while dancing. SUCH great fun.........let me encourage you to give it a try!! You WILL have the time of you Lives............

Then we returned back home for a few minutes, jumped into the truck and picked up Donna and Danny......and head west for the Horseman Saloon. We were to meet other members of the online forum RV.Net......a great resource for rvers........a great place to make friends.....a GREAT online organization/club!!!!!!

WELL.......this Saloon was already packed by the time we arrived a few minutes after 4pm......and thankfully, Shirley of RV.Net "Snowbirds" fame had saved seats for the four of us. And.........there were our Cedar Creek RV Owners Club members John and Laverne ("Sody" on the CCRVOC Forum) waiting for us to arrive!!! WOW......it had been a year since we had seen them........and soon the "party" began!!!!

The music by "12 String Tim and Sharon" was great......very danceable......and MUCHO FUN!!!! Before long, everyone there who were members of the RV.Net group were feeling mucho better.......as well as the 150 or so other senior citizen Winter Texans who were there enjoying the music, the beer, the dancing, and the good times!!! NO ONE would ever believe how MUCH these Winter Texans just absolutely LOVE to dance....and dance.....and dance.....AND DANCE!!!

Sitting at long tables that had room for at least 12 people.......the good times really rolled on and on and on........with the music getting louder, the laughter getting louder.....and deeper friendships developing with the incredible camaraderie that his place brings about!!

The musicians???? Really good.....and the show they put on for four hours left everyone feeling like they had just experienced such a memorable evening. Sharon of the band.....well, every sooo often she would come out in a different costume to sing and dance and entertain......and OMG, DID she ever entertain!!!! We had soooooooooooo damn much fun this evening dancing, drinking a few long necks, and laughing with our CC friends as well as our many new and old friends which we were with!!! I can't remember the last time I was almost "under the table" by 4:30pm....not to mention three hours later!!!!!!

Returning home...........the 1st Lady and I realized that today had been a very busy day......and a lot of it centered around our dance classes AND, most importantly....being with such great friends!!!!!!! Shirley.......when you read this......THANKS SOOOO MUCH for putting together another amazing evening of fun!!!!!!!! YOU are the top organizer in the RGV!!!!! I agree......let's do it again, but this time let's do it south of the border!!! We can assist each other in returning to the border, can't we???

A day like this.........hmmmmm........an aging old hulk who is a victim of evolution(me)........and friendships and togetherness......they all blend soooo well together to make being a silver-haired senior citizen a wonderful experience and one that everyone should have the chance to enjoy down here in the Rio Grande Valley!!!! COME ON DOWN!!!!!

What more can be said.......???? Nothing other than.....................

LIFE IS INCREDIBLY GREAT!!!!!!.......And, I hope it is for all of you, also!!!!
