Day 32: GO WEST...OLD MAN.....GO WEST!!!!!

A quick lurch out of my horizontal position about 7am this morning......and before long the Fr. Roast coffee was ready......and I was busy storing items that we had taken from the cabinets, etc. to make our day to day living more comfortable. By 9am, we were pulling out of the Travelers World RV Park, after having unhooked the umbilical cords from TheHowserHouse, and hooked it up to the truck. The sun was SHINING BRIGHTLY......and before long we were on I-10 heading northwest out of San Antonio.

I had always heard about the "hill country of Texas" and this morning I had my first opportunity to see it firsthand. Leaving San Antonio......it began to look a bit like Italy with the individual hills with light/white colored homes and estates on top of them. As we traveled further west.....the hills gave way to brush and dirt and land that resembled the non-mountainous parts of Wyoming. AND........we seemed to keep stepping up to a higher plateau......over and over again, until before long we were at the 2800 foot level and then remained at that for the rest of the drive out to Ft. Stockton.

It was, quite frankly, a very boring drive of 325 miles to Ft. Stockton. Not much to see, and what we did see was repeated over and over and over again. As we ascended these "steps" to higher levels......the truck towing TheHowserHouse began to get worse mileage per gallon. You could almost see that damn needle going down.....UGH!!!!! $$$$$$$$$$$

Along the way as we approached the Ft. Stockton area, we began to drive along side of literally hundreds of thos TALL three bladed windmills that are erected and used for making energy out of the winds. What a sight!!!!! It was like an entire battalion of aliens lined up across the desert just standing there on top of the ridges waiting to pounce upon TheHowserHouse!!!! A great sci-fi event!!!!

We arrived in Ft Stockton around 3 pm....and quickly found our campground......notice that I DID NOT say RV Park!!!!???? It is very primitive........albeit that we have free Wifi and cable tv.....but we are literally on the desert dust and dirt. It is a large cg.....but again the wiring for the electricity and tv is a bit on the scary side. Oh well.....the microwave works, the cable tv works and I am on Wifi right now with NO interruptions!!!!! All of this for the grand total of $18.00, including taxes!!!!! Not bad.......it's just a campground. It is just FINE for a quick overnight stay......

Tomorrow we are off to Las Cruces, New Mexico for the night......about 275 miles west of here. Supposed to be great weather......and surprisingly enough, it was 70 degrees when we unhooked here this afternoon. WOW.......could it possibly be warming up???? Has global warming finally arrived here in Texas and the great Southwest????

Soooooo, after a couple of doses of dark red medicine this evening to accompany a fine dinner that the 1st Lady prepared.......I am feeling relaxed and in much better health. Amazing just how quick that medicine works!!!!!!!!!! Sat out on the patio with the sinking sun in my face, sipping those doses down.........ahhhh, oh how......

Life is GREAT.....and I hope it is for all of you, also!!!!!!
