I was up and out of my horizontal position at 7AM this morning.......made my French Roast coffee....and then watched my Sunday morning news shows.....as the winds began to blow. And......they continued to gain strength and by afternoon, they were gusting over 40mph with sustained winds in the 30+mph range!!! If it wasn't tied down today.......it blew away!!! All of my protective tire covers blew off, but I did manage to rescue them from being blown all over the park, thank goodness.
After the 1st Lady came downstairs, we decided to go out for breakfast.....and we ended up eating a very good breakfast at IHOP. And.......we had the same waitress that we had when the Cedar Creek RV Owners Club had their annual RGV Breakfast there early in February. It was VERY busy there today and we had to wait for about 20 minutes to be seated.........lots of Winter Texans are still down here, I guess.
The 1st Lady and I then went to the Don-Wes Fruit/Veggie Market and then across the street to the HUGE Flea Market. We wandered around there for a couple of hours, bought some fresh pineapples, a new chamois cloth for using on the truck....and that was about it. On the way back to the resort we stopped at the area supermarket and picked up some bottles of wine to replenish the ones that seem to have just disappeared during the last two months. Hmmmm......????
We just hung out later this afternoon.......visited with Donna and Danny as they are leaving here tomorrow. They are the first people we became acquainted with when we arrived on January 2nd.....and so we sure hate to see them leave tomorrow. We will see them again as they live in the same small town in NE Kansas where the 1st Lady's sister and family lives.
This evening......it was off to the Sunday evening square dance at Tropic Star RV Park in Pharr, TX......west of here about 15 miles.....and still in the RGV! GREAT fun!!!!! And, we had the chance to spend more time with our friends who also came to dance.......as well as say farewell to Pat and Tom from Kansas who are also leaving for the northlands tomorrow. Little by little everyone will be departing even though the storms of winter seem to still be attacking many of the northern and central states. We will be leaving here two weeks from today.......going to Mustang Island which is close to Corpus Christi where we will stay for a few days. Then we will travel on around the bend of the Gulf Coast and be in New Orleans on Good Friday, March 21st. We will probably stay there about a week and be home no later than the 1st of April. Only two months at the stick and brick and then unless something occurs, we will be leaving for the summer during the 1st week of June......going east and northeast up to Nova Scotia, Canada.
And soooooo, with the winds STILL howling and TheHowserHouse still rocking not so gently, I will close this ramblin' blog tonight.........not much new happening anyway......and I won't bore you with more words and thoughts(?). As always............
LIFE IS REALLY GREAT!!!!!......And, I hope it is for all of you, also!!!!
