Day 83: WHAT a marvelous and wonderful day in New Orleans!!!!

WOW……another PERFECT day!!!! Yep…..the sky was almost cloudless, the temp was around 73 for the high……and it was just a wonderful day!!

After we all had breakfast, got the interior of TheHowserHouse straightened around, and got ready to leave for downtown……….the reality of “It’s a Small World” slapped us in the face!!!!!

Yesterday I had mentioned to the 1st Lady that the trailer behind us was a “Mako”….a brand I had never heard of until we met two wonderful people in the RGV who owned one. THEN….the license plate said they were from Ontario, Canada………and so, I asked the 1st Lady what Charlie and Kathy’s truck looked like….the color of it. She said several times…..”White!!”. Ok….I thought so I was wrong……

Well, I looked out the door this morning and the 1st Lady was talking to the people in that same truck that was parked behind us at the Mako 5th wheeler. And…….OMG, it was our good friends from the RGV.,…Charlie and Kathy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They had been here in this same rv park for a few days…..and, parked right behind us!!!!!! WHAT a small world!!!!! Soooo, we talked for a few minutes as they were preparing to leave for Natchez, Mississippi for tonight……..so, once again we said our farewells and embraced each other……they are such wonderful people and we feel like we have known them for many, many years, instead of just less than three months!!!!

After that BIG surprise, we loaded up and went into downtown N. Orleans, meeting Jay. He took us to his apt. which is in a wonderful place downtown…..and then we went up to the rooftop where the swimming pool and patio overlooks the entire city!!!

From there, we went the Fr. Quarter, walking around observing all that there is to see…..and THAT is a LOT!!!!! HAHAHA…..soooo much to see here. Not to mention the wonderful old French buildings, architecture, wrought-iron railings on the balconies, architectural details of the houses, etc., etc., etc. I LOVE this place!!!!

We stopped into a small café for lunch…..and asked to sit in the back courtyard. We all had various small items….and I ordered the Crawfish Cakes!!!! OMG……the three cakes were amazing……..sooooo wonderfully tasty and lightly covered with a delicious sauce that had a small after-bite with some Cajun heat in it!! They were soooooo damn wonderful…..WOW!!!

We continued to Jackson Square, watched the street performers, the street bands, and the street entertainers…..acrobats, musicians, artists, fortune tellers, etc., etc., etc. It is always just like an outside circus!! Then we wandered down to the French Market where it is like a large Flea Market with all sorts of different items for sale! From there, we took the trolly along the waterfront to Canal Street and then got off….and picked up our car where we drove through the beautiful Garden District with it’s incredible old homes….sooooo many lovely mansions and homes there. We continued along the river drive, returning to the KOA campground in due time.

We decided to take a break, rested, had a small Happy Hour, and then decided to return to the Quarter for dinner tonight. Rachel went swimming for a little while…..and then we got read and left.

We went to Port of Call……a great hamburger and beer place with a Yuppie type crowd, sprinkled with college students, and a few OLD folks like the 1st Lady and the sagging hulk of me. We waited for over an hour for a table…….and during that time, Becky, Jay, and myself walked a few blocks to find a bar where we could get a drink. On the return to the restaurant, we feel VERY certain that we saw Brad Pitt with two of his little ones. Becky and Jay each did a double take…….not knowing that anyone else was thinking the same thing…..BRAD PITT!!! Who knows….????? We are not certain……
The only thing is that Brad and Angelina DO own a home in this area of the French Quarter!!!

After a great meal…..and a lot of noise in this place, we loaded up the car and returned to the KOA campground for the evening.

It has been a wonderful day…….lots of things to see…..lots of things to do!!!! And…….I am more than certain that…..

LIFE IS INCREDIBLY GREAT!!!!!!……And, I hope it is for all of you, also!!!!
