Day 85: A visit to the New Orleans Aquarium.....

A cool beginning to the day…..which evolved into a day in the 60’s for temps…..and a beautiful blue sky above. Oh yeah…..the breezes were in the 20 mph range which made it feel cooler than it really was…..

We planned yesterday to go to the New Orleans Aquarium, but this morning Rachel was complaining of a headache. Soooo, Becky and I went to the nearest grocery/pharmacy and picked up some Motrin to give her. She laid down for awhile, drank some water, and had a light lunch and was soon feeling better. Off we went to downtown N.O……found a parking garage for $8 for the day…..GREAT!!!!

And then…..we walked the few blocks to the Mississippi River bank where the very contemporary Aquarium is located. We bought tickets for both the Aquarium and the IMAX which is located in the same bldg. We then spent about three hours viewing the displays, the thousands of live fish, sharks, sting rays, etc., etc., etc. QUITE a presentation!!!!! It was thoroughly enjoyable and very educational for everyone!!! Rachel really enjoyed her time there!!!!

Then, we watched the 4pm showing concerning Creatures from the past ages that lived in the sea……and while it was a computer generated film, it was really very good!!! With 3-D glasses on, the fish were right smack in our faces…..and fun for everyone.

Afterwards, we walked through the Fr. Quarter for some last minute shopping for Rachel to complete….and then picked up the car and returned to the KOA. It wasn’t long before Jay walked in the door. Soooooo, we quickly got some sandwiches together and enjoyed our time together. Becky and Rachel are returning to Missouri tomorrow…….

When we arrived back home, Rachel seemed to have a fever…..think she has caught some cold, or perhaps the same “bug” I have had for several days since we were in Port Aransas with the dampness and winds. Anyway, she went off to bed and is still not feeling any better as I write this.

Jay is also staying the night, so TheHowserHouse is full tonight…..full house! We have extended our stay in New Orleans until Monday morning, the 31st……..several things we want to do and see, as I have mentioned……and we might as well do these things now while we are here…..right???

And sooooo, a full day…….a granddaughter that is not feeling very good tonight……and a long trip back to Missouri for her tomorrow! However…..the day has been a great one with lots of new things that we saw and learned……and therefore,

LIFE IS REALLY GREAT!!!!!!……And, I hope it is for all of you, also!!!!
