Day 84: WOW.....a great swamp boat tour!!!

Beautiful day....but much cooler with some strong breezes keeping the temps down.

We decided to forget the French Quarter parades today.....Easter Sunday. Instead, we headed out of town about 30 minutes and went on a two hour swamp tour!!! Yep.......it was a really, really great little "cruise" through the swamp on a pontoon boat......and it was soooo much fun. The weather was cooler, as I said, and the alligators were quite lazy just laying in the warm sun, and therefore, we did not see too much action from them in regards to the boat passing by them. They just laid there on their log, or warm mud, or wherever........and didn't move much at all.

The trees and foliage and flowers were all in their spring colors.......and it was such a gorgeous trip. What we did see........at least 20 Great Blue Herons.......huge and stunning in their flights down the channels of the swamp!!!!!!! They have such a way of remaining unseen on the logs or brush until they take off to "escape" from us......and then it is almost too late to get any pictures. WOW.......they were just amazing!!!!!!

This swamp tour was sooooo great........I heartily recommend it to everyone!!!!! The name: Cajun Pride Swamp Tours. If you are in the area, be sure and enjoy it!!! They do make pick-ups at the hotels, if that is where you are staying.....and I suppose they might come to any rv campgrounds, too. Price for an adult was $24.00 for the two hour tour....with a $2.00 discount for senior citizens. A GREAT price for such a special trip through a swamp that you might never get to enjoy any where else!!!!

We returned to New Orleans and had a late lunch at a really fine Mexican cafe on Magazine Street......out from downtown and in a great little area that I wouldn't mind living in!!!! LOTS of food for a small price......and two Margaritas for the price of one! Good Deal!!!!

Then we drove over to the lower Ninth Ward....and looked at the destruction from Katrina. Now, to be fair.....things are better than when we were here in August. More new construction and renovation.....and those houses look great!!! SURE glad that there is improvement, albeit ohhhhhh sooooooo slow!!!

Returning to the KOA, we just kicked back and relaxed for the evening. Thinking about remaining here until the 31st.....but will have check on several things that could prevent us from doing that. SURE not anxious to go north........STL area had SNOW....that damnable four letter word!!!!!!

And so........another day in our winter journey!!!! The 1st Lady is SURE enjoying being with one of our granddaughters.....she said that next year she will do like she did last year: fly home for a week about halfway through our winter trip. However, today's fun and enjoyment from the swamp boat trip sure proves that.................

LIFE IS REALLY, REALLY GREAT!!!!!!.....And, I hope it is for all of you, also!!!!!!!
