Chapter 2 of Today:
I wound up fighting that damned headache all day long.........and, it turned out to be another gorgeous day with a stronger breeze than lately, but it wasn't that bothersome to me.
While the 1st Lady was doing the laundry, I went about the task of putting on a new seat onto her bicycle.......one that she felt would feel better on her.....hmmmmm,....rear. Nothing is ever as easy as it is supposed to be, is it????? Sure you know that!!! Well, it took me an hour to get it on, adjust it for her when she returned.....and then, sadly.......hearing that it was not better than the old one, and that we would be returning the new one back to the store. Well......you know....I had to take the new one off, and then put the old back on.....and make the adjustments for her. Ok......enough of that for one day!
This afternoon, the 1st Lady went down the road to Walgreen's while I laid around, emptied the holding tanks, and just enjoyed the weather and the peace and quiet. Then at 3pm........
We picked up Ken and Jeanne and off we went to the countryside, west of Mission.......to the infamous Pepe's On the River!!!! The 1st Lady and I had been there last year.....in January when it was soooo drizzly and nasty.....and never went back. BUT.....today was different and the place was packed!!!!! We found a table on the side of the LARGE palapa......underneat the thatched roof....there is room for a few hundred people. And.......they were all there enjoying the waterhole.....the food....the drinks....AND, the music. The group performing today was Jealous Heart.....and they were very, very good. Even me.......the one who does not enjoy C & W.......well, I enjoyed their performances!!!!
Pepe's is on the Rio Grande......RIGHT on the side of the bank, with steps down to the pier where boats on the Rio Grande pull up to enjoy this fun place. Today.......well, there were guys attempting to hit golf balls across the Rio over to Mexico!!! And......we watched one guy make it over with his long drive!! We ordered Tacos, FF Onion Rings, and Shrimp/Fish platters. The tacos were a disappointment for Jeanne, but the fish/shrimp platter was good.....and onion rings would have been good except they were barely warm by the time they got to us! OK.......we dealt with that by eating most of them anyway!
We went down to the water to get a few pictures, took some of the sunset, and then headed back to civilization and......dessert!!! We made a brief stop at a Chili's .......and enjoyed their Chocolate and White Chocolate Lava Cake. GREAT......GREAT......GREAT!!!!!! Sooooo yummy.....soooo rich.....soooo decadent!!!!!
Home to the resort we went after having a fun time at Pepe's, some very filling food, and a wonderful dessert. It will be our last outing with Ken and Jeanne as they are leaving on Sunday with their Cedar Creek for west Texas and Big Bend National Park. It seems our friends are beginning to depart for other places........our neighbors directly east of us left to return to their home in central Texas. They are ones that are such avid avian admirers/bird watchers.......and who are interested in a trip to Egypt in the near future.
And soooooo.......another fun and wonderful day with friends!!!! And, of course......
LIFE IS REALLY GREAT!!!!!.......And, I hope it is for all of you, also!!!!!
