Up at 7am.....French Roast coffee dripping away.....and clouds hanging low with a very light mist, albeit 66 degrees outside. The 1st Lady was up by 7:45 and getting ready for her morning line dance class. I took care of my own morning rituals after she left, then sat down for another couple of cups of Fr. Roast........ It was also the morning for the trash pickup....and so I took care of that, leaving it on the curb, hoping it would disappear(and it did!).
When she returned, we decided that we just had to take a few items back to various stores in the McAllen area......having purchased them a couple of weeks ago, finding out upon returning to TheHowserHouse that what we had purchased didn't work for us. Soooooo, we made a quick trip over to see Pete and Jane....and Pete was outside grilling some beautiful steaks. A few brief words with him...and Jack.....and then we were off to the west end of the "valley".
And OMG........it took us sooooo damn long to get all of these things returned....as they were all from various stores that were not close to each other. And......the Texas off and on ramps to the expressways make it soooo damn difficult to get from one side of the road to the other.....having to drive a long ways out of the path to the store......hate this system!!! A waste of my diesel fuel money!!!
By 3:30, we realized that we had NOT eaten lunch as yet.....and we were both hungry. Sooooo, after once again having trouble getting to the Olive Garden because of the highways....we finally arrived. We always enjoy their soup and salad and breadsticks......and THAT is what we enjoyed this afternoon. We lingered there, taking our time with each course......and just relaxing and not hurrying this very late afternoon lunch. I hate to hurry a meal......rushing through everything just for the sake of eating. And, this afternoon was certainly not a fast food eatery......so we enjoyed everything about the meal!
Returning to the "road", we made a couple of other stops to return the bicycle seat we had purchased for the 1st Lady's bike......it just never fit correctly, so back it went. And a couple of other items also were returned.
Then the mist turned to sprinkles, and then rain, although it was very light rain. We turned the truck east and soon were driving into the resort....... I called Pete to see if they would like to come over this evening, however, we both agreed to wait until tomorrow to get together again, as both the 1st Lady and I were dragging our hulks just a bit.
And so.......the evening has started to come to a finish. The results from the Wisconsin Primary are known......and, obviously....if you read my posts last week or so, you know that I am happy with tonight's results from that great and beautiful state. Time will tell........
Looking forward to a better weather day tomorrow......!!! However, no matter what the weather turns out to be down here in the Rio Grande Valley........
LIFE IS REALLY GREAT!!!!!!......And, I hope it is for all of you, also!!!!!
