Hmmmmm, you know......I thought I had retired.....I thought the days of having a tight schedule were long gone......I thought that I had reached the time in my Life when that "time" was going to be for me to do as I damn well wanted!!! HAHAHA!!!!...........was I ever wrong!!!
I bounded out of bed a bit after 7AM this morning.......made my French Roast coffee......checked my emails(many of them), and then read a couple of online newspapers BEFORE I awakened the 1st Lady before 8am. Then........it was time for the morning rituals for both of us.......and by 9AM....I was outside preparing to make a trip to Harlingen.
Yep....today was the day I had to take my new bike back to Bicycle World for it's new 30 day "tune-up". I did not have an appt......as I was told that it wasn't necessary...."just bring on in". So, by 9:30 I was in the truck, the bike was in the back seat after I removed the front wheel.....a "snap" and a twist and the wheel comes off quickly. Well.....it took a little longer than I thought it would to drive down there and re-locate the shop......yep, it is not tooooo easy to find places in Harlingen. Anyway.......I go the bike out of the truck and signed it over to the people in the shop.
I was told a bit longer than an hour......and so, I had already found a WalGreen's and I quickly drove there.....to purchase a Valentine's card. This has been the ONLY time I have had any alone time to be able to pick up something for her for the 14th.......so I took advantage of this and did get her something for Valentine's Day.
Then........OMG....I spied a Starbucks Coffee Shop!!!!!!!!!! WOW.....I got into the parking lot quickly, inside the shop, and soon I could smell my Grande Cappuccino brewing!!!! I haven't had a Starbucks Cappuccino at anytime during the past 44 days....maybe more. OHHHHH, did it ever taste wonderful!!!!! I sat myself down......and slowly sipped the dark rich coffee with the steamed froth laying on top of the coffee.........and enjoyed it immensely. While I had the time, I made a phone call to check on somethings in F'town.........and then finished the Cappuccino.
Returning to Bicycle World, I found my bike ready to go. Picking up a basket for the 1st Lady's bike, I loaded the bike, and off I went trying to find the 83 Expressway to Mercedes. Well.....the road is under construction.....and it took mucho longer to get out there than I had planned.....and......by the time I got to TheHowserHouse........
It was time to go to Alamo to our square dance lesson!!!! Two hours of dancing........a stop at the local supermarket...ONLY one brand of grocery store here in the Valley......picked up a few necessary food items.....and then back to TheHowserHouse. Unloading the bags.......we got back into the truck......
And, we went to a fast food Mexicano eatery.......Taco Cabana. Ok.......I won't return.......it was just a bit below average in quality.......just was not impressed. They did serve beer, of which I had one to wash down the "food"........just not my cup of tea for Mexican food.
Returning to TheHowserHouse.......we took a bike ride around the resort. Then......as the sun dipped below the palm trees to the west, we went inside and kicked back to spend the evening. It was a beautiful afternoon..........became completely cloudless after having been totally overcast this morning.....and the temps that I saw were reaching 83 degrees!!! OK......great afternoon weather!!!!! Another day.........and still,
LIFE IS REALLY GREAT!!!!!.......And, I hope it is for all of you, also!!!!
