Ok......the morning dawned gray and cloudy and humid. But.....did that stop me or the 1st Lady from enjoying ourselves??? Of course, not!!!! After the usual morning rituals for both of us, the 1st Lady went to one of the laundries here in the resort....and took care of all of the clothes that I had made unwearable. Then, after that....we just enjoyed the morning....the soft breezes and the sun peeking out now and then.....and then it was soon time to turn on the a/c!!!! Yep......it became necessary to cool down TheHowserHouse as the morning flew by.
We had a bite of lunch.....and then at 2pm, we went and picked up Pete and Jane....and within 10 minutes, we were walking across the Rio Grande bridge into that wonderful, exciting, colorful country of Mexico!! Shopping, looking, browsing,.......and enjoying the many, many stalls of Mexican crafts and artisan skills as we walked along the sidewalks of Progreso. We priced the many bottles of liquors, pottery, candies, etc., etc.......looking for the best bargains.
Finally, we came to Garcia's.......two floors of wonderful things to purchase....and then we found ourselves in the Garcia's Restaurant......where Pete and I purchased the tickets for the "show" there in the performance room.
Entering, along with a couple of hundred other senior citizens, we found a table that would seat 12.....and later we were joined by others from Llano Grande RV Resort. Ron and Linda had brought friends of theirs......and before long, the free drinks were flowing. $5.50 was the price for the Mexican music/dance show as well as ALL the drinks we wanted for the next two hours!!!! Yep......it was an incredible two hours!!!!!!! And.....needless to say, this sagging hulk of me had WAY tooooooooooooo many Margaritas!!!!!!! OMG.........I'm not sure when I have had this many glasses of that wonderful, feel good concoction.
Well.....the music, the dancing, the Mexican culture........it was simply a wonderful two hours at Garcia's!!!!!!! We had sooooo much fun.....for OLD folks!!!! No one would believe that we are just as fun-loving as the younger generationS.......no one. But..........hahaha....we are. Oh yeah......we enjoy ourselves as much as those who are sooooo damn much younger. Are we as sexy.....are we as beautiful and handsome......are we as enticing?????????????????????????? NOPE!!!!! But we have not lost our sense of what it is to have a good time........of "partying".......of enjoying LIFE!!!! And......we have not the worries of the younger generations......our days of making a living, of paying for a home, of paying for college bills, of all of the responsibilities that come with being younger......those days are now GONE. We are free, we are still healthy, we still love having a party!!!! Yep......for all of you who are not at this stage of your Life...........HURRY UP!!!!!
Well......as I left Garcia's......I realized very quickly that I might not be able to get to the border!!!! But, with the help of good friends.......I made it to the bridge, through Passport control, and then through the tax station where those who have purchased some liquor have to pay the Texas taxes. Yep.....I was back in the USA......albeit with a bit staggering.
Pete took my truck keys.......and, thankfully, he drove all four of us back to the Resort!!!! THANKS Pete!!!
Soooo, a wonderful day!!!!! I hope I can get some of these great pictures online tonight........we had a great time........a REALLY, great time. If you are here, or will be here in the RGV, make certain that you go to the show on Tues/Thurs at 4pm at Garcia's in Progreso, Mexico!!!!!
Hey......even though I may have a bit of a hangover, this has been one of the best days we have had while down here!!! No doubt about it.....
LIFE IS INCREDIBLY GREAT!!!!!!........And, I hope it is for all of you, also!!!!
