Day 42, Feb 11, 2010: Brrrrr......a cold, wet, foggy day, but a warm and wonderful evening!!!

Oh yeah......this day was not a good weather day!!! This morning the fog was thick, it had rained, and the drizzles continued most of the day, and the chilly breezes and no sun made this day one of misery!!!(Just like Missouri).

The morning rituals completed, I had some more coffee, read the morning papers, and then made a run into Weslaco to refill a bottle of propane(30# bottle for $16.80!!!!), pick up my suit from the cleaners, fill up the truck with diesel, purchase a bottle of wine at the liquor store, and then go to Walmart for a few items.....mainly some red roses for the 1st Lady to give to her today and a card to give to her on Sunday. All of this took almost two hours!!!!!!! Nothing was easy and the lines were long, the traffic was heavy on Bus. 83 as well as the streets, and Walmart was like Christmas Eve afternoon!!! WHEW......what an ordeal this was!!!!

The 1st Lady and I spent an hour or more discussing more definite plans for the summer.....still trying to juggle our wants with our needs.....not easy to do. Doug and Diane have asked us to join them at their condo a couple of hours from Calgary, Alberta....the first week of June. We will be going to our rv resort site this summer in Thayne, Wyoming......and I have to be at the Lake of the Ozarks in late July for the reunion of all of my former students. WOW......busy, busy. Soooo, getting all of this to meld successfully is the task at hand right now.

The afternoon went without any problems......I took a nap for an hour....and before we could turn around twice...it was time to leave for Trophy Gardens RV Park to spend the late afternoon/evening with our good friends, Charlie and Katherine from Cornwall, Ontario, Canada. They are members of "Our Gang"....and have been great friends of ours for several years......we actually spent a week in Cornwall visiting them in 2008 when we into northeast Canada and the Maritime Provinces.

We picked up Doug and Diane and arriving there before 5pm, we then spent a great Happy Hour with them in their brand new 5th wheel RV.....a beautiful trailer with some wonderful appointments and details!!! During the drinks and appetizers, they showed us their slides of their recent trip to South Africa and Zimbabwe. OMG....some gorgeous pictures, some great shots of the live animals, and all of these pictures made my mouth water!!!! They have taken some interesting trips over the past few years.......making the trip across Siberia by train, going from St. Petersburg, Russia across to Mongolia and on to China; an extended trip of several months to Australia and New Zealand, as well as this trip to South Africa. Well traveled they are.......and, all of these trips makes for some wonderful stories and such great conversations!!!!! I am soooo jealous!!!!!

Dinner was some incredible Lasagne with a great tossed salad and fresh rolls.....which was later followed by dessert of her infamous Lemon Pie.....WOW!!!!!! Katherine is a super chef and we are always indebted to her for such wonderful dinners!!!!!

The evening was great fun with lots of stories from all of us discussing our travels of visiting around the world.....as well as other interesting and hilarious stories: Ask Diane about her "little lints" in the holding tanks!!!!! Sooooo much fun!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We returned to TheHowserHouse about 10:30.....and I am now trying to get this little post written as tomorrow will be a full day.....as are most of our days down here. And, you know.......as always......

LIFE IS JUST REALLY, REALLY GREAT!!!!!!!.....And, I hope it is for all of you, also!!!!!
