Day 2: Now, south of San Antonio for the night.....

Brrrrr.......did it ever get cold last night in Texarkana, TX!!!! It was 24 degrees this morning at 7am when I poured my first cup of French Roast coffee.....before I went outside to begin removing the umbilical cords from TheHowserHouse and getting it ready to travel. Neither the 1st Lady or I slept very well last night.....kept waking up every hour on the hour.......not sure if it was because the furnace kicked on, and when it does, it has a tendency to wake up everyone in this RV.

We were on the road at 8:05 this morning, head west to the Dallas area. It was a beautiful morning.....and it soon warmed up very nicely. However, by the time we arrived on the east side of Dallas where we took the "beltway" around to the 35 heading south.....the winds had become stronger and stronger.....and soon it was becoming very difficult to keep TheHowserHouse going down the highway in a straight line, never mind keeping a steady speed. By the time I filled my tank again, just south of Waco......my gas mileage was less than 10 mpg!! UGH!!! The winds were coming up out of the south/southeast....and were hitting us almost straight on.......as well as from the side so the ride was very uncomfortable.

By the time we reached Austin, the winds had calmed down.....and the remainder of the drive was just fine. We are overnighting about 10 miles south of San Antonio.......at a really nice and a big RV Park along a lake. Being members of Passport America.......we only had to pay half the normal price for staying overnight........which includes cable tv and wifi, as well as all hookups. A great deal!!!

Only being 225 miles north of Llano Grande RV Resort and Golf Club......we should arrive at noon, or a bit after....depending on when we get going in the morning. Two couples from our Cedar Creek RV Owners Club arrived there today and were sitting under the palm trees and having Happy Hour drinks when they called this afternoon to see how far we have driven today. We should be there by that time tomorrow!!!

As to our landing gear leg which decided to drop down yesterday.......nothing happened today!!!! GREAT!!!!! That little leg just remained tucked away up inside the metal "tube" where it normally stays until a extend it so I can unhitch. I did have a thought......perhaps TheHowserHouse just didn't want to leave Missouri(surely not?) and so it just put it's foot down yesterday to stop it's self from leaving!!!?????? Hmmmm.......the personification of inanimate objects????

OK......it was 72 degrees when we arrived today about 4pm......and at almost 8pm, it is still in the lower 60's......YEAH!!!! And soooo, with the low in the 50's tonight, it should be a great night to catch up on my sleep!!!

It has been a good day.......albeit a bit tiring with the strong winds fighting TheHowserHouse.....but, you know as well as I do that......

LIFE IS REALLY, REALLY GREAT!!!!!......And, I hope it is for all of you, also!!!!
