OK......the 1st Lady was up and going at 6:30....and then shortly thereafter she was off to her Tai Chi class which begins at 7 each morning.......UGH!!!! I watched her class this morning on the closed-circuit tv.....the Rec Hall channel.....and it just reminded me of a band director directing a complex piece of music in silence AND slow motion!!!! Not sure I want to go through my morning rituals THAT early in order to make the sagging hulk of me presentable for the world just so I can direct a band in slow motion with no music!!!
I had a couple of cups of French Roast as I read the online newspapers.......and then opened the windows to TheHowserHouse as it was warming up very quickly. Couldn't have been that Fr. Roast coffee, could it???? The winds were from the south, VERY, VERY moist feeling as the humidity was quite high today. And, from time to time thick clouds would cover the sky above us and it would like it does when it is Tornado Season in Misery.
Somehow the morning just blew away with the damp winds......and it was soon time to leave for the RV.NET Gathering, which was to begin at 12 noon. The Six Sexy Seniors, as we need to call ourselves, went in two separate trucks......and soon, we were at the Horseman's Saloon where the RV.NETters were gathering for a few hours of fun, drinks, lunch, and more fun which automatically happens when you get that many senior Winter Texans together in one area!!!
We immediately were greeted by friends from the two previous years of this elite gathering....and it was sooooo good to see those that we knew!!!! It is just amazing that it has been a year since this "gathering" took place.....and yet, it seems as if was only yesterday. We signed in at the door.....and then found a table for ourselves.
When I signed in I was informed that there were a couple of people who wanted to meet me.......they had left word at the registration table to be sure and come to meet them. Well........what does one say when you hear that????? Upon further questioning, I discovered that they had been reading this blog for some time now, and just wanted to meet me!!!! WOW.....should I give out autographs next year???? HAHA!!
I located the right table....and soon I was talking with Luther and Carolyn Buford....from Kansas City. With everyone arriving, it was difficult to talk very long......and as the afternoon progressed, it became almost impossible to get back to their table. Soooooo, before they had to leave, I did talk with them and we agreed to meet here in the RGV for lunch or dinner in the near future......and that I do want to do soon!!
We had a plate lunch early in the afternoon........as almost everyone there did. Hmmmm.......I must say it was not the best lunch that I have had here in the RGV........not certain I would keep this portion of the afternoon gathering next year. Before long, we were introducing ourselves to the entire group.......and then the drawings began. During the hours of the afternoon, we drank a few beers, talked until we were hoarse, and just thoroughly enjoyed ourselves!!!
Amazing......the were MANY rv'ers from Missouri....oops, it is definitely Misery tonight up there!!! And, OMG......we met some people who were from Versailles, MO.....right next door to my hometown of Eldon. But the real shocker was when we met Glen and Gayla Hickey.....originally from Iberia, MO and now of Poplar Bluff. However.......we soon discovered that they are friends of good friends of ours......John and Gayla Singleton of F'town!!!!!! WHAT A SMALL WORLD!!!!!! Plus, Glen graduated from Lincoln Univ in the late 60's, and that is where I got my Bachelor's in 1966!! And then........former friends of ours in Eldon turned out to be a cousin of his........the world just became even SMALLER!!!
Later, the musician/singer who was performing this afternoon came to introduce himself......and he is from Patton, MO......about 18 miles from F'town. And, another SMALL WORLD, his nephew is one of the mechanics that I use on our vehicles in F'town!!! I began to think we were back in our own state.....except.....the weather down here is near perfect....and tonight up there in Misery, they are having ice and snow storms in our area!!
Isn't it interesting that almost everywhere we travel....in the U.S., in Canada, in Mexico, and in many of the countries which we have visited and traveled......we almost always run into other people from our home towns, or that we know, or that know friends/relatives of ours. Uncanny...it is, it is! Guess that shows that we certainly need to be on our best behavior......haha!!!!
We returned to TheHowserHouse here in Llano Grande RV Park Resort.....and just kicked back and relaxed, had a bite to eat, and then settled in for an evening of watching TV. The winds have died down, as usual in the evenings here, and the warm temps have remained. Guess we can sleep with the windows up tonight!!!
Tomorrow??? Not sure......just "play it by ear", I suppose. Sure there might be some square dancing involved.......
OH...OH!!!! I forgot to mention that this morning I talked with our RGV friends, Doug and Diane, who are from the Edmunton, Alberta, Canada. They are in the motorhome close to Palm Springs, CA for this month, will move to Yuma, AZ for February, and then arrive here the first week of March. We visited over the pc program....Skype....which allows us to talk and to actually see each other throught the webcam on our computers. GREAT to see and to talk with them......such good friends they are!!!!
We have sooooooooooo many friends which we have made here in the RGV........it is just wonderful. We have several members of our Cedar Creek RV Owners Club here in the Valley, and more are on their way down here within the next month. What fun.....!! And, as always........
LIFE IS JUST INCREDIBLY GREAT!!!!!!......And, I hope it is for all of you, also!!!!!!
