Day 30: A day with friends, with food, and with some sightseeing.....

WOW.....did I ever sleep last night!!! Dead on the mattress, I was...I was. But......at 7am I was up, the coffee began to drip, and the 1st Lady went back to sleep after I came downstairs. I turned on the fireplace as it was a bit cool inside....and that great little fireplace ALWAYS makes the den nice and toasty warm.

She came downstairs about 8:30....and soon we had had a bite to eat, more coffee for me and for her, it was hot tea. We checked with Pete/Jane about our lunch plans and.....oh yeah!!....we were still all going to Gonazles's Hamburgers around noon. I did some reading of the local newspapers, had another cup or two of coffee, and then it was soon time to drive the few miles west to the most famous hamburger spot in the RGV.

And, as always.......it was get in line, and wait......and wait.....and wait! BUT.....we all knew the end result would be great: the mouth-watering giant hamburgers and onion rings. And.....after placing our order(which took about 10 minutes in line), it was not quite 30 minutes later that our names were called.....and our orders were ready!!!!! YUM..YUM!!!

We took the orders outside to the picnic tables.......and slowly consumer these gigantic burgers....and OMG, they were just as good, IF not better, than when we were here a couple of weeks ago. Sitting here writing these few lines about them is actually making my mouth water just thinking/writing about them.......WOW!! IF there are any of you here in the RGV area who have not, for some ungodly reason, been there to eat..........GET YOURSELVES OVER THERE!!!!
No one goes away disappointed.......and the return customers must run at close to 100%.....there are always soooooo many people there. Remember: they do not advertise. You will not find their name in the phone book, you will not find them by any sign, not even on their building!! It is all a word-of-mouth system of advertising......and, it sure as hell works! YUM YUM!!!!

Leaving there stuffed like six turkeys.....we headed west to go to Bentsen Palms rv parks. A nice drive, and we enjoyed driving through the parks out there.....but, we came away very satisfied with where we are staying.....Llano Grande RV Park.....as our sites are bigger, the amenties are many, many more, and we just love this place!!!

On the way out there, we did find the rv park where Lynn and Liz Howard are staying. They are members of our Cedar Creek RV Owner's Club and we have been with them a couple of times over the past year since we met them down here last year. We made plans to see them again, at least once, next week......with the possibility of meeting them at the dog races in Harlingen.

Returning to TheHowserHouse, we kicked back, snoozed a little, and then made a couple of phone calls during the evening. Dr. Jeni/Darrel and Meghan flew out to Breckenridge, CO last night to spend this weekend skiing in the Rockies. She said tonight that it was VERY cold there today, but that they had a GREAT time skiing all day!!! Jeremy was in STL for a meeting and he said the weather is moderating a bit.......and I believe he will be returning to New Orleans in a day or so. Becky and Rachel are at TanTara Resort in Osage Beach as Rachel's musical group had been asked to perform at the Missouri State Music Educator's Conference today. From talking with Becky, it was quite a hit with those who attended their program!!!! And...that's the family report of the day!!! HAHA!!

As for the 1st Lady and this sagging hulk of Me.....it has been a good day, friends, food, relaxing, making plans, etc., etc. And, you know what........it is just as always........

LIFE IS REALLY, REALLY GREAT!!!!!......And, I hope it is for all of you, also!!!!!
