Wednesday: Two more gorgeous days at the Lake!!

WOW.....how lucky can TheHowserHouse be while here at the Lake of the Ozarks with this weather????? We certainly picked the right week to be here!

Yesterday......we went up to Eldon, my home town, and went to the cemetary to take some flowers to the graves of our daughter, who died at the age of 8 years old.....as well as some for my parents and my grandparents. We then went to the local grocery store, and of course, I run into a former student and her mother.....and it was just really great to see them again!!!!! Tracy had been a great student of mine and her parents were great band supporters......just a joy to see them. Tracy is not in good healther and that is upsetting.......I have come to believe that the very best things that you can want it.....good health.

Then we came back down to the Lake, after stopping briefly at the Amish Market in Eldon to pick up some fresh meat, cheese, and some great butter which I dearly love to purchase from this little market. I grilled some large KC Strip steaks, baked potatoes, that great corn casserole that the 1st Lady makes, and a wonderful spinach salad. Prior to dinner we had some drinks and appetizers sitting outside under the awning in this wonderful weather, often looking over our shoulders at the flowing Osage River as it sped by the rear of TheHowserHouse.

Christie and David stayed all evening....and we were sooooooo glad to have them with us!!!! Can't wait until they come down to see us later this month!!

Today...Wednesday.....we did some shopping at the local outlet mall. Things seem to not be going so well there, as there are lots of empty stores and that is NOT good. We did find quite a few things that we couldn't live without and so we have the back seat of the truck filled with things.

Then this evening, I met my former student and his wife for dinner at Vista Grande, a local Mexican restaurant which has always had very high rankings down here. However, the dinner I had was below average.....and I doubt that I will return there again. I had the Chile Rellenos (sp?)....and it was.....well, almost blah. No flavors of the chiles....the cheese was just not good, and the rice was horrible!!! Do NOT order that if you go to Vista Grande!!!!!!! Or, better yet....think twice before eating there. As I said, it used to be really great.....but, something has occurred over the past couple of years and it has gone down hill.......quickly.

Mike and Merrie are two great people. He was a band director but in the past few years he became the High School Asst. Principal.....and is doing a great job. Merrie is an outstanding teacher on the elementary level.....and has been recognized throughout the state for her great teaching accomplishments!! A great couple devoted to education of our youth........we need soooo many more just like Michael and Merrie Williams!!!!! It was sooooooo great to see them and to spend a couple of hours in conversation that never came to a period.....even while our mouths were filled. Soooo much to discuss.....and I realize just how much I really miss them!!!!!!!!! Life is too short to not be with friends.........our times are way tooooo short to not get together more frequently.

And sooooo, tomorrow we MAY leave for Sam A. Baker State Park......or we may not go until Friday morning. This all depends on if we can remain here in this site for tomorrow night.....and that might not be possible.......I'll know in the morning. Otherwise, we will drive on down to Sam Baker tomorrow.

WOW......a great two days......and as always....ALWAYS.......

LIFE IS REALLY, REALLY, REALLY GREAT!!!!!....And, I hope it is for all of you, also!!!!

Politics is just like driving a car: Put the car in "R" and you go backward; Put the car in "D" and you will go forward!! Why return to the past????
