Sat's post on Sunday: A Wonderful Day.....

Well……we seem to have lost our wifi last night…..and so this post is a wee bit late. Guess something went wrong in the office ….which was closed by the time we lost the connection. Soooo…….

Yesterday……we had to get our bodies up and going really early, at least for us! I was up at 5:15 and the 1st Lady was up after I took care of the morning rituals……and then we left a bit before 7am for the western side of the greater St Louis area for a 10AM wedding, of which our granddaughter Rachel was to be in. We got there in plenty of time as it was only 110 miles there from where are currently staying, south of Springfield, IL.

The wedding was in a small park, outside, and it was a really nice setting for it, especially with the sun not quite up and over all of the trees there by that time of the morning. Rachel looked really pretty and with Dr. Jeni and family there, also…..it was a really nice event for everyone in our family. Following the ceremony, a BBQ lunch was provided for those attending, with the reception then to be held in the evening.

We returned to the Double J Campground after the lunch…….and soon were back, and happily, involved in the Rally. I had a rehearsal to attend at one of the other Cedar Creek RV’s…..and while there……WOW!

The 1st Lady knocked at the door and said I needed to come outside for a minute….and there was a fellow that we had met last year in Texas, who lives only about 4 miles from here. Kent Thomas had been reading in my blog that we were at a Rally here at this campground and so he came over to visit with us!! WHAT a great surprise!!!!! I only wished that I had not been in the one and only rehearsal for the skit that we were presenting last night after the soup supper…….so I could have visited with him for a longer amount of time.

At 5:30, we gathered in the shelter and enjoyed another great meal with everyone. A wonderful soup had been prepared by everyone………each family bringing veggies or meat to put into the soup…….along with a side dish or dessert. And…..OMG, was it ever, ever good!!!!!

Following that, four others and myself sang a song about senior citizens using the tune of “My Favorite Things” from The Sound of Music…..and with our individual costuming, I think it went over really well!!! It was fun to do……and, if nothing else, we really had fun performing it!!!!
The remainder of the evening was spent sitting and chatting around the campfire. Many of the group are leaving this morning, but those of us who are remaining for one more day will eat together again this evening.

With the weather being just super for October……..with the wedding and the Rally events…….as always…..

LIFE IS REALLY, REALLY GREAT!!!!!…..And, I hope it is for all of you, also!!!!!!
