OMG....when the alarm clock rocked the room at 6:30 this morning, I could not come alive enough to get it shut down.....DAMN!!! Sooo, when I finally did haul my sagging hulk out of bed and stumble into the bath.....I was still not too coherent!
A quick shower and morning rituals completed, I hurried(?) into the kitchen to get the French Roast coffee going.....and soon those dark, rich waves of hot, fresh coffee were slowly registering inside my brain.....and soon,......VERY soon, I was feeling a bit better. After a quick breakfast of toast and jam, I awakened the 1st Lady, and then went outside to check all eight of the tires of TheHowserHouse and the truck which would soon be transporting us up to the Springfield, IL area.....to the Double J Campground where the Region 6 Rally of the CCRVOC would be held this week.
We left a few minutes before 9am.......and arrived at noon.....after driving the 180 miles without any problems, in fact.....it was a very pleasant drive with the gorgeous, brilliant blue sky and bright sunshine overhead. Arriving at the cg.....there were several other Cedar Creek RV's already in their assigned sites....and all afternoon, more and more arrived, with one or more to arrive tomorrow.
It was REALLY GREAT to see our good friends, many of whom we had last seen and enjoyed when we were in Shipshewanna, IN in early June, and then in Niagara Falls, Ontario a week later!!!!!! And.....to once again be able to spend some quality time with Larry and Cindy .....and Pete and Jane........the afternoon sped by quickly as we laughed and talked and laughed some more with everyone.
We also received a wonderful tour of the brand new Cedar Creek 5er that Larry and Cindy have only recently purchased........and it is beautiful!!!!!!! They have made a choice that they will enjoy for many years to come as they find more and more time to roll down the roads of North America and enjoy the sights, sounds, cuisine, and friends of this great part of the world!
This evening, the traditional carry-in dinner was a big hit.......with everyone grilling their own meats...and then everyone sharing in the carry-in veggies, salads, and desserts......ummmm, sooooo good!!! These rver's can really, really cook some great food!!!!!
Tomorrow......we will run into Springfield to visit some of the Abe Lincoln sights.
Even though we were only in the stick and brick for 2 days, it is really, really great to be back in TheHowserHouse on-wheels........and to be with such wonderful friends that we enjoy so much......from New Mexico, Kansas, Texas, Missouri, Illinois, Wisconsin, Indiana, and Tennessee, Alabama.......a GREAT group!
And soooo, another day of travel and being together with other rver's........what more can you ask for.........and it just underlines the fact that.......
LIFE IS INCREDIBLY GREAT!!!!!.....And, I hope it is for all of you, also!!!
POLITICS IS LIFE DRIVING A CAR: PUT THE CAR IN "R" AND YOU GO BACKWARD; PUT THE CAR IN "D" AND YOU GO FORWARD!!!!
