Day 16: A very relaxed and quiet day......wonderful!!!

Another morning of awakening at 7am.....to relative darkness on the other side of the window shades. Cloudy....but, my friends up north, it was right at 70 degrees!!!! And, it remained about that temp all day long......GREAT!!!

Around 10am, our usual group: Buzz/Moe, Pete/Jane, and the 1st Lady and this sagging hulk of me left in two trucks to run east about 3 miles to the town of Mercedes. Breakfast was our goal......and we had decided to eat at a little "mom and pop" cafe called "Mingo's". This little place is of Hispanic origin, no doubt,.....as many of the items on the menu are Mexican dishes.

Well......I had heard sooooo much about this little place from a friend of ours who is just two streets behind us here in the resort, and who last year we had even had dinner with in Hannibal, MO. He, his wife Marilyn and their friends often eat there and so he writes about it in his own blog. The 1st Lady and I have been here for almost two weeks and have yet to be able to connect with them......but, guess who was in the cafe???? Yep...it was Ed and Marilyn....and so we did chat very briefly as they, also, were with friends there for breakfast.

Our breakfast was very good, with some of us ordering the Mexican breakfast plates...and others eating American. I was very pleased with the Huevos Rancheros....and would certainly order it again. However, our New Mexico friends, Pete and Jane....were not as happy about them, saying that they just were not made quite the way they are used to eating them. But.....each little cafe has their own methods.......right???

Moe, Jane, and the 1st Lady left us from there and went to the outlet mall, where they shopped and didn't return to the resort until late afternoon. Think they had a great afternoon, not only with the shopping but, also with just being together!!!! They seem soooo compatible!!

Pete, Buzz, and I returned to the resort....and disappeared, each into our own little home-on-wheels and were not see again all afternoon. This statement includes this sagging hulk of me, as I just spent some time researching and preparing documents and maps for my upcoming journey to Washington for the Inaugural. This actually took more time than I thought it would as there seemed to be soooo much reading to do as to the various streets being closed at certain hours, walking detours around them...and even under them.....and then I also printed out maps for the Philly International Airport and the terminal I will arrive at, a map of the Philly Train Station as I have to go by train from the airport to the train station......as well as many maps of D.C. with the blocked streets marked.

This preparation took most of the afternoon.......and the more I worked on the trip, the more I realized how anyone attending the Inaugural really, really must be prepared with maps and information about the blocked streets, etc., etc. We'll see how current this info is.....and hopefully, it will be current!!! I don't want to be wandering around in the middle of the night attempting to get across a blocked, secured street somewhere....haha!!

This evening, the 1st Lady and I dined on very large salads with some stir-fried chicken breasts....and a couple of glasses of wine for each of us. Our evening is in front of the tellie this evening.......very relaxing, it is!!!

Jeremy called us.....and he had flown to San Francisco from New Orleans this morning. Changed planes in STL.....a familiar airport to him...haha!! He flew out there for a wedding this weekend.....one of his good friend's bid day! He was soooooo impressed with the beauty of San Francisco......as this is his first trip to that gorgeous city!!! Think he has fallen in love with it already......

And so, our day has been good, relaxing, and just really laid-back. Tomorrow it will turn a little cooler with showers anticipated. Might find ourselves doing something new......what...I know not!! It makes no difference.......we are living here and so we don't always have to pretend we are tourists......

LIFE IS REALLY, REALLY GREAT!!!!!!!......And, I hope it is for all of you, also!!!!!!
