Day 4: WOW.....a super day here in the Valley!!!!

What time is it?????? That thought wandered through my foggy brain this morning.....was it morning?.....as I lay there in mostly darkness with only a small particle of light seeping through the roof vent and the skylight over the shower. I have not adjusted to the lateness of the sun arriving above the eastern horizon as yet.......today it slipped into view around 7:20am, however, I didn't know it was to be at that time as I lay there.........wondering. Wondering what...you might ask. Well....should I attempt to raise my body from the strong pull of gravity which was keeping me in the horizontal position on the bed and try to slip downstairs without awakening the 1st Lady.......or should I just lay there and possibly awaken her with my squirming around.

Soooo, I took a chance....and slowly....oh soooo slowly.....managed to overcome that strong pull of gravity on every square inch of my sagging hulk and then carefully and quietly went downstairs and closed the pocket door.....and she slept on and on. I had not prepared the coffee maker last night, so I just decided to wait until around 8am before making some noises with the preparation of the aromatic, rich, strong French Roast coffee, the beans of which I had purchased at Starbucks.

I spent some very quiet time reading the online newspapers as the sun was just coming up when I opened the blinds.......and a bit before 8am I heard her going through her morning rituals upstairs. At the stick and brick, it is large enough that she cannot hear me getting the coffee prepared from the bedroom....but in TheHowserHouse we are living in a much smaller space and the noises do carry quite easily.

After she came downstairs, I took my shower and, after finishing with the morning rituals, I came back downstairs, fixed my coffee, and threw some bread into the toaster for my breakfast.

We departed around 9:15 for the few miles over to Casa del Solle RV Park, where we going to get back to the great exercise and wonderful fun....of square dancing. BUT.....before the dance began......soooooooooo many of our great friends from last year here in the RGV arrived for the dance, themselves. WELL.....there were lots of hugs and well-wishes.....soooo much catching up on each other's lives since we left here last April. We had seen Charles and Katherine when we were in Ontario, stopping in their incredibly lovely town of Cornwall and remaining there for a week....and this was the very last week of June and into July of this past summer. But.....there was still lots to discuss, as well as future plans to talk about concerning the next 3 months here in the Valley.

And then.......OMG...it was time to dance!!!! WOW....WOW.......soooooooooo damn much fun for the next two hours!!!!! I can't recommend this super activity highly enough......if you can get the opportunity, take square dance lessons.....I don't care what age you are now, JUST DO IT!!!! As to be expected, we had a BLAST!!!! We laughed, we danced, and we laughed much more.....and very quickly the two hours were gone. The 1st Lady and I were both more exhausted than we anticipated..........guess we have been doing toooooo much relaxing over the past few months since our return from Nova Scotia!

We made a stop at Walmart to pick up some food items....and it took much, much longer than we thought it would. I don't know why we didn't remember that this Walmart is the busiest and the slowest that we have used here in the Valley......and today was no exception! I also refueled the truck.....and then back to Llano Grande RV Resort we went.

A quick bite of lunch was next on the agenda, even though it was going on 2pm. We then mounted our trusty bicycles and rode around the resort checking out various additions/improvements that have been made since we left here last April. On we went over to the Clubhouse/Rec Hall where we checked out the many, many lists of activities available this year, as well as quick three days or so tours down into Mexico. The dates are not working well with our own schedules: mine quick trip to Washington D.C. for the Inaugural and the 1st Lady's 10 day trip back up to Misery to get her "grandchildren fix" in February. Soooo, we will probably not go down into Mexico this winter with the exception of crossing the border over into Progreso, just about 4 miles from here.

Then returning, we were asked to come over to Buzz and Moe's 5er at 4:30 for Happy Hour. With a bit of time left before then, we crossed the street and sat awhile with Pete and Jane, laughing and talking and laughing more over the stories we told about various situations and events in our lives.

On to Buzz and Moe's for an hour plus for drinks and snacks.....and great conversations!!!! We made plans to go to the HUGE Flea Market just a few short miles west of here, as well as picking up some fresh fruits and veggies at the Market there.......and also, we made plans to go over across the border to Progreso, Mexico for the day on Monday. As always, I am excited to be going there......sooooooo colorful and so different than right here, just four miles away......such a difference in cultures and way of living. We do need to restock our liquor stock and THAT is THE place to do it, even though it takes several trips because we are soooooo limited as to the small quantity that we can return to the states with.

This evening......rest, relaxation, reading, and just enjoying the evening. It has been just a marvelous day weather-wise......87 degrees but with southern winds of quite a bit of strength.....but THAT is the RGV at this time of the year. These shorts and flip-flops feel soooooo damn good.....soooo damn glad to be out of those jeans and long sleeved shirts and jackets and coats and gloves and all of those winter clothes that burden one down with the oppressing weight, not to mention the depression that comes with winter in the gray state of Misery.

And sooooo.......just a super day here in the RGV!!!!!!! Wish all of you could be with us (but then I would have to buy LOTS of liquor...right?) What can I say....except....

LIFE IS INCREDIBLY GREAT!!!!!!......And, I hope it is for all of you, also!!!!!!

I just had to comment on this one. Square dancing is such a blast! My husband, Andrew, and I had our first lesson a few months ago...it will forever be on our list of favorites!

Happy Travels!
