Day 13: BEAUTIFUL!!!!! An amazing day to grill some steaks.....(more eating!!)

OK......once again I was a bit worried when I came downstairs around 7am this morning......it was really, really dark. Granted......the shades are always down at night, so with these day-night shades it does keep the light out quite nicely, but it just seemed like I was up before I was supposed to be....haha! But, I raised one shade and it was just very, very cloudy outside. DAMN.....more clouds??? I quickly got online to check the weather and I soon learned that the day was to be sunny with a few high clouds. OK....I can accept that.....just get the sun out ere quickly, I thought!

The 1st Lady didn't drag her butt out of bed until about 8:30......so, I had plenty of time to sip my dark French Roast coffee.....and to read some online newspapers......always need to know the news. Guess I am one of those "news Junkies"!!

Now........as I look back to this morning, I am beginning to wonder: just where the hell did the morning disappear to????? After the 1st Lady came downstairs, I went up and took care of my morning rituals, which ALWAYS includes making the king bed.........and, you know....with that huge wide mattress in there, making the bed takes a bit of time due to the close quarters upstairs with the king bed. Oh well........that was part of the "marriage contract"....and only a very SMALL part of it. More on that later........

After some wonderful, juicy, sweet, Ruby Red Grapefruit which we picked from one of the many trees here in the Resort, I had a bowl of cereal, more coffee was poured, and I quickly moved out to the patio. It had been quite coold last night.....mid-40's....and the furnace did kick on a few times to keep the upstairs warm. Outside.......OMG, it was absolutely gorgeous with the blue skies, the bright sunshine, temps in the upper 50's, and no wind.

I walked over to Pete and Jane's and sat a while talking, discussing, and become closer with them as we shared more and more of each other's lives and histories. We decided that today was going to be a great day to grill some steaks and all of us eat on his patio about mid-afternoon.

Returning across the street to our home-on-wheels.....I took out a huge steak that we had purchased a couple of days ago at one of the local fresh meat markets....and laid it out to defrost.
Then I did some puttering around ourside.........dumping the holding tanks, flushing out the black tank, and just some general checking of the plumbing, electrical, and other systems aboard TheHowserHouse.

We took a short bike ride around the area of the resort that we are in.....and met another rver from Missouri.....the Town and Country area of STL. We had a great conversation with him about rving.......and the places that we both had visited recently, namely......the Maritimes of Canada where we were this past summer.

About 2:30....we carried some grilling items over to Pete's and soon after that we had drinks and some wonderful fried tortillas.........ones that Jane had purchased when we were in Mexico last week. OMG.......OMG.....they were soooooooo great!!!! Fried in oil, then salted after they became crisp.....they were wonderful with the salsa dips she had ready and our various kinds of wines that we were enjoying. Buzz and Moe arrived with their part of the meal.....a great mixed salad and baked potatoes. Jane had also fixed some wonderful stir fried brussel sprouts with fresh nuts and balsamic vinegar.....YUM!!!

Pete, Buzz, and this sagging hulk of me had our steaks on the grill......all of the steaks were purchased at this wonderful meat market.......very inexpensive for HUGE, THICK steaks!! It didn't take long.....and we were soon enjoying the "fruits of our labor" as the steaks were grilled perfectly (somehow??)....and it was way tooooo much to eat. But.....isn't that the case each time we dine out, also???? It is a daily task to try to keep all of these meals from staying on our aging bodies......and it is QUITE a task!!!!

The 1st Lady had bakes some garlic/chees biscuits.....from the recipe at Red Lobster...and they were just as good, if not better than theirs!!!!!! And, for dessert she baked some Banana Bread with the wonderful bananas we purchased at the local fruit/veggie market not too far from here.

Our close friendships, the great food, and the wonderful conversations made the afternoon slip by quickly and with a lot of enjoyment!!!! While the guys cleaned up the remains and took care of the dishes......the ladies decided to practice their line dancing!!! Yep.....right out there on the patio they rehearsed their steps and routines!!!!! A great show for everyone!

This evening.......a relaxing evening in front of the fireplace, as the cooler temps descended upon us as the sun sank below the palm trees. It was a really pretty sunset.....wish I had been on top of TheHowserHouse to capture it on film, but it all happened soooo quickly, I just didn't get it done. Hmmmm.......too much food, and wine???? I won't tell.......

And so, another day of TheHowserHouse while sitting in the Rio Grande Valley of Texas......and, as always.......

LIFE IS JUST REALLY, REALLY GREAT!!!!!.....And, I hope it is for all of you, also!!!!!
