Two days have disappeared from my Life.....and it is about time I shared some information with all of you.!!!! We have been busy, busy, and spending a lot of time in deep discussions about our plans, our goals, our thoughts, our desires......and.......
Yesterday morning after our morning rituals, several cups of my rich, dark coffee, and much discussion with the 1st Lady.....I went down to the Resort Office. There I met with the member of the Stewart family who own this resort and acres and acres and acres surrounding this resort. After discussion with him, I then met with the realtor for the resort where we discussed the price of the corner lot that is for sale. The owner lives in San Diego and has not been around, has not developed the lot as far as patio, landscaping, gravel, etc., etc. It does have the electric power, sewage connection, and water hookups....but, with the exception of some weeds.....that is all that has occurred with this lot.
Sooooo, confirming that the price listed was $39,000 for this much larger lot than all of the others in the middle of the blocks....the corner lots are all bigger than the regular lots, I offered $33,000 cash for the lot/site. And....in the same breath I told the realtor that my offer was my one and only offer....not haggling over the price back and forth with the seller. Soooo, he said he would inform the seller and let me know.
Yesterday, later afternoon, the realtor called me and told me he had contacted the seller and that he would "have to pray over the offer". That was fine with me.......because I felt that if it was meant to be, then we would get the lot/site.....if not, that would be fine too as there must be a reason for us not getting it.
Sooooo, the 1st Lady and I talked and talked about it.......filled out more legal forms for the realtor later in the day......and then discussed it some more. We decided that we could go either way....with getting it, or without getting it......whatever happened would be fine with us!!
Sooooo, TODAY: The day dawned with some cloud cover.....cooler, but still very nice. We went to town to the Post Office to mail some things for her F'town Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, went to the grocery store....and as we were coming home I got a voice mail to call the realtor. Doing just that.....he told me that the seller had agreed to our offer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WOW......guess we were meant to own it, huh?????
And soooo, the afternoon was spent measuring the lot..it is irregularly shaped, not just a plain old rectangle, as the street curves around it....and with the street being put in the wrong place, as we later learned this afternoon, we have more space than the usual corner lots. Not knowing just where the stakes were to define the lot corners, I called the realtor and he came to the lot, began trying to locate the metal stakes under the gravel covering, and this took some time. Then....he called the developer who had plotted out the lot.....and with him working, we did get it measured and lined out.
The remainder of the afternoon was spent in measuring the RV, then the truck, then the lot as to just where we would park the RV for the best window exposure to the mountains. Not....NOT an easy task to do with the odd shape that this lot is!!!! Soooo, as of now, we still have not decided just where the place will be for the RV and where we will have concrete poured for the initial patio to be. Just soooooo many decisions to be made!!!!! We have GREAT windows in the 5er and want to take advantage of being able to see the mountains that surround this lovely valley......so we can look out on it at any time.
We close on the sale on Sep 25th, but most likely we will not be here for that. I do have work to do on the lot, some adding of gravel on the edges, seeing that sewage input gets moved slightly, and other things, like pulling weeds out of the gravel, etc., etc., etc.
This evening the 1st Lady and I and Mac/Gail went to the resort's International Dinner....the end of the summer dinner that the resort sponsors. We had a lot of fun, ate waaaayyyy tooooo much of Italian, Mexican, German, Cajun, Polynesian, American dishes that were on various tables around the "Barn"....the gathering place for happenings here at Star Valley Ranch RV Resort. A great time....and some excellent food!!!!
We still want to go down to Utah to the National Parks, or at least some of them as we may not have time to do as much as had planned due to this new purchase of land. We must be back by Oct 1st in Misery as we fly to Hartford, CT on Oct 7th for a week with our son, Jeremy and his fiance Anne-marie!!!
And sooooo, a busy two days of our journey. Days that I could not have seen coming.....had no thoughts about doing this, but we do believe it is a very good investment as land out here in the resort is appreciating each year. Single lots in the middle of the blocks are selling for more than what we paid for this large corner lot with the very good views of the mts......so feel sure we can do alright with this land purchase! Must have been meant to be!!!!!
What more can I say.....but, as always.........
LIFE IS JUST REALLY INCREDIBLY GREAT!!!!!!!!!......And, I hope it is for all of you, also!!!!!!
