This morning........or, should I say..during the night I got up to turn down the furnace...and noticed a light on in the living room. Going downstairs I quickly realized that it was the fireplace that was turned ON!!!! OK....so, I couldn't find the remote, but turned off the fireplace by fumbling around in the dark with the controls. Sooooo, back to bed I went and this morning.......I tried to turn it on again, but it would not turn on at all! Sooooo, with our day being planned to be gone all day, I worried about this for about 15 minutes while I had some coffee....and then decided that there was nothing that needed electric power in the RV today....the fridge being able to run on propane. First, I did try to locate a fuse that powered this fireplace but to no avail!!!! Sooooo, as we got ready to leave....I unplugged the 50 amp power cord from the RV to the power box at the edge of the RV site.......and, off we went with Mac and Gail to Idaho Falls, Idaho!!
The first 30 miles or so was just simply incredible with the road going along the side of the lake, usually at an elevation above the lake so we could see the beauty of the color of the lake and mts. Then at one point we stopped at a viewing spot....and there were three wind surfers with their "parachutes" or whatever they are called....and with wet suits for the chilly water, they were zooming across the lake....and getting lots and lots of air time!!!
Onward we went and by 10:30 or so, we were in Idaho Falls.......a city of close to 100,000 including the surrounding area....the greater metro area. We stopped at many various places to shop, purchase what we needed from our lists, and then to look at some items. Lunch was at a family restaurant which provided really good food, from sandwiches to a full breakfast menu that was good all day long.
Then.....off we went again to other parts of town to get the items Gail was needing for her quilting hobby, and Mac needed some more trout flies.........and then off to Walmart, Sam's Club, and other places. We let Gail out at her "Bernina" store....and the three of us then went to the Idaho Falls Mormon Temple area.......only to see the building from the outside, and to enjoy the beauty of the grounds surrounding the temple. TONS AND TONS of flowers.........soooooo colorful and fresh looking. From there, we went to the city park which runs down both sides of the Snake River....and which pours over a man-made falls.....not the original ones. Another beautiful area.....a gorgeous green park with wonderful big old trees along the Snake River.
Picking up Gail, we stopped at a roadside stand to purchase some fresh corn on the cob....and, hopefully it will be as good as it looks!!!!!!!! By 4:30 or so, we were on our way back to Thayne......but, we had one more stop to make: A small town where they serve SQUARE ice cream cones......OH YEAH....The ice cream is dipped in a square dipper and is then put into the cones!!!! What an original idea!!!!!!
Home by a bit after 6pm......tired, but it was a great day!!!!! I immediately went to work to pull out the fireplace from it's little built in corner of our living room. It was removed easily after getting four screw out......and then, I just unplugged it from the wall receptacle behind the fireplace.....and then....hahaha....spent almost 25 minutes trying to get the fireplace BACK into it's tiny little corner...with only fractions of an inch between it and the molding around the opening!!!! WHEW.......I was certain that it was going to come back on with a blaze after all of the heated words I used during this struggle. However, I WON the battle....and it is back in place with the four little screws all tight and nice....holding it in place(I hope).
And sooooo.......some incredible scenery, some great shopping, and some very pretty sight-seeing within Idaho Falls!!!!!! Just a wonderful day.......and, as always.........
LIFE IS JUST INCREDIBLY GREAT!!!!!!....And, I hope it is for all of you, also!!!!!!!
