I was up a bit after 7am......since I automatically awoke about 6:30, the time the 1st Lady has been climbing out of bed each morning to go to her Tai-Chi class. Quietly going downstairs, I turned on the the coffee pot.....and by 7:30 the coffee was made and I hear the 1st Lady in the shower upstairs.
When she came downstairs she reminded me that we had to leave about 9am for a square dance at Casa del Valle on North Alamo Street. Soooo, I quickly went upstairs and took care of my morning rituals in a rush. After Jeremy got up, he decided he wanted to make a quick trip over to Mexico this afternoon, but had to be back here before 3pm for a phone call....a business call again.
We dashed up Exp 83 to Alamo and arrived in plenty of time for the dance. Sitting with good friends of ours who all square dance, the next two hours went waaaayyyyy tooo fast, as we were having a real blast dancing this morning!!!! When 12 noon quickly arrived, we departed and quickly drove back to the resort so that we could get over to Mexico and back before 3pm.
Pulling up to TheHowserHouse, we noticed Jeremy outside talking with someone.....and not recognizing him at first, I got out of the truck.....and then I realized that it was Doug Porter from Edmunton, Alberta......our really good friend who had arrived while we were gone!!!!!! WOW.....it was sooooooooooooo great to see him again,......and very quickly Diane ran over from across the street. It was like someone had pressed our buttons....as we all were talking at once and laughing soooooo much, just like last year. We explained that we had to rush over to Mexico and would be back by mid-afternoon........and they needed to get hooked up with all of their umbilical cords, etc., etc. so we parted and headed south......
We quickly found a spot in the parking lot to leave the truck.....and before we knew it we had crossed the bridge and were back in Mexico once again!! TONS and TONS of people were there and we had to squeeze through the narrow walking area on the sidewalks......people everywhere and many local vendors selling their wares......of all kinds. Again.....the bright colors, the aromas of the food vendors, the guys trying to get us to go see THEIR dentist, others wanting to cut our hair, etc., etc.
Jeremy found a few items in one of the largest stores in the 1st block from the bridge. I purchased a bottle of "Tia Maria".....a wonderful liqueur that is coffee flavored and goes soooooo great with Breyer's Vanilla Bean ice cream!!!!! Just pour it over the ice cream, add a right-out-of-the-oven Brownie.....and my mouth is watering right now with just the thought of this!!!!!
Very soon we were on our way back across the bridge and found ourselves back in the states. I paid the $1.25 Texas Liquor Tax.....and in ten more minutes we were back in the resort. Jeremy was back in plenty of time for his business call......and then Doug and Diane came over and invited us to go with them to a Happy Hour two streets over right away.....and then we could all go to Doug and Janet's 5pm Happy Hour together. And.....that we did!!!!!! Both were barrels of laughs........and as I have said soooooo many times: it is sooooo great to be with friends that we have made while RVing.
To those of you who haven't been down here to spend a winter in the RGV.......I just don't think words can accurately describe the incredible atmosphere that we live in down here with our friends.....just no way!!!! As we slip quickly into our final week down here.....I am beginning to remember just how it was when I was a small boy at home......having sooo much fun playing, etc.....and then being told that it was time to stop....... and get to bed!!!!! That depressed feeling, that little bit of anger at having to stop all of the fun times playing......stop so that I could climb into bed.....UGH!!!! And those same feelings are overcoming me now....nine days before we have to stop playing and pull out of Llano Grande RV Resort!!!
BUT.....we have nine days left and they will be very, very full of activities, Happy Hours, parties, dancing, and great meals! Yep........the events and fun of today assured me that.........
LIFE IS JUST REALLY INCREDIBLY GREAT!!!!!!!!......And, I hope it is for all of you, also!!!!
