Day 61: A very busy and quite a varied day!

WOW.....it certainly was cool last night as the furnace kept cycling on all night long. This morning, with the northern winds blowing, made it feel much cooler than it actually was. We were up and going by 8am......and a bit before 9 we said our good-byes to Pete and Jane anOur d all too soon they were pulling out and going down the street. WHERE have the past two months gone to????? It has been soooo much fun to have them here with us....and we have done sooo much, ate sooooo much, laughed sooooo much.......while they have been here. A FABULOUS two months.........and, in the morning Buzz and Moe will be leaving for Las Vegas, their home. Another of our small group leaving from here...........!! They, too, will be missed!!!!!! We will all be together once again in Las Cruces, New Mexico in the middle of June at the International Cedar Creek RV Owners Club 2009 Rally.......and these months will be fly by, I'm certain.

Our son, Jeremy/Jay, who resides in downtown New Orleans, arrived about 10:30 this morning. He left there yesterday afternoon and drove almost to Harlingen before stoppping for the night.....and then came on here this morning. It is GREAT to see him again......and to have him with us!!!!!!! Lots to show him here in the RGV, as well as Nuevo Progreso, Mexico...while he is here this week.

The 1st Lady and I purchased tickets a month or so ago to see the La Joya High School spring program of their Mariachi Band and their Folklorico dancers.....and so today was the day of the performance. WOW...WOW...WOW....WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OMG, what a professional performance......a show that lasted almost 2.5 hours!!!!!!! The performance was in their high-tech auditorium and I was simply amazed at these students.......so professional, sooooo good, and sooooo difficult to believe that they are only ages 14-18!!!!!! And, to think that this is taught in their daily class schedules........not just an after-school activity!!!!! The dancing was just incredible, their music the same.....and the costumes were soooo colorful and exciting.......just an OUTSTANDING performace!!!!!!!!!!

We returned to TheHowserHouse in the resort around 5:15.....and soon were on our way to just outside of Harlingen to a restaurant called Lone Star......not a chain, but a private enterprise. The 1st Lady and I had eaten there a couple of times last year and it was quite good. HOWEVER..........with seven of us at the table(John and Julie, Buzz and Moe, Jeremy, the 1st Lady and myself.....things didn't go very well, to say the least.......

First, our drinks arrived, but they were fine. However, I ordered onion rings and about the time dinner arrived, the brought a onion loaf....NOT what I ordered. So, I ordered them with dinner and once again......the wrong thing. I also ordered an 8 ounce rib-eye steak cooked medium.....and when it came it was perhaps 1/8 of an inch thick and well done!! Sooo, I sent it back. Buzz ordered Prime Rib....the first one was not cooked as he had ordered it, so soon another one arrived....and it was almost freezing cold. We all touched the inside and it was like an ice cube!!!!!!! Julie's steak was practically able to walk across the table with blood dribbling behind it. Jeremy's mixed veggies never arrived as part of his meal......and soooo, I wound up eating a baked potato, Buzz ate around on his prime rib.....and Julie just didn't eat much of anything. I went over to talk with the manager to ask him to come to our table......and he wouldn't walk across the room to come talk with us. The waiter was horrified at this mess...and it was only his second day on the job,......not necessarily his fault for our problems as all of this was the problem of the kitchen, however.....the waiter was at a loss for words. I don't think I hav ever experiences such a disaster at a restaurant......EVER!!!!!!!!

Sooooo, the moral of all of this is: BEWARE of the LONE STAR on Bus 83, just west of the highway interchange at Harlingen. I would strongly recommend you thinking twice, perhaps three times before you go there to eat!!!!!!!!! The only positive thing is that the steaks were removed from our bills.......

And soooo, we returned to the resort and settled in for the night!!!! The vally warm-up begins tomorrow.....and that will be very welcomed!!!!!!! Our plans for the day and up-coming week are not set in stone, just relax and enjoy having Jeremy here with us to share in our daily Life here in the RGV!!!!!!

A wonderful, marvelous performance this afternoon.......and a very crappy performance by the chef/cook at the Lone Star this evening. However........as always.......

LIFE IS REALLY, REALLY GREAT!!!!!!......And, I hope it is for all of you, also!!!!!
