Day 41: A rainy, foggy, but beautiful Nova Scotia

During the wee hours of the morning, I was awakened by the pattering of raindrops slowly dropping upon the roof of TheHowserHouse...and since it has what is commonly referred to as a "rubber roof"....the soft pattering was not that disturbing. And.......these short little spurts of raindrops continued off and on until this afternoon........(I didn't stay in bed that long!)

After the morning rituals and doing my best to not awaken the 1st Lady, I had my morning French Roast coffee and watched the rain falling softly as the grey fog drifted down from the mountains and then would disappear....and then another soft billowing of that gray, silent cloud would again block any view of the mountains. No matter how depressing this type of weather can be, this morning it was quite pleasant to look at through the rear window of the den....sipping that steaming cup of coffee....and letting my mind and thoughts wander and come and go like the fog was doing on those mountains. An enjoyable drizzly morning.........oh yeah......I did want those minutes to not leave this sagging hulk of me.

Around 8, I got out my trusty umbrella and went down to the office to extend, if possible, until Tuesday morning. Last night while down at the "hotspot" by the Laundry Room I had mentioned to the owner of the rv park that I might want to extend another day...IF....he could make room for me and yet, not have to move THH to another site. Well......to my surprise, that paperwork had already been left on the counter of the office for the morning workers....and the task was already completed....except for me paying the bill for that one night: $32 + change. WOW....that IS service!!!!

I returned to THH, only about a half block away from the office....and after the 1st Lady was up and going......she decided we should have some pancakes for breakfast!! OMG.....that hasn't happened for....well, hell....I don't know how long it has been since we have cooked breakfast!! But....this type of rainy morning just called for those hot pancakes and more French Roast coffee and her hot tea.....as we kept our eyes on the mountains, alternating between layers of fog and complete visibility. Beautiful!!!

We just hung out around there.....she did some work on the billing that she does for our son-in-law's business......and then around noon, we decided to go take a look at Baddeck....pronounced Buh-DECK. And so, we went into town...about 3 miles....and quickly discovered it was not a sleepy little village but a destination.......a destination for tourists who are planning to drive around the John Cabot Trail....and this is the place to leave from if you want to drive around the Cape from east to west. Lots of little gift shops with quality items to select from, little cafes, many nice B&B's, hotels, cottages, and there is also a nice town wharf with a Yacht Club for those who enjoy sailing. The town sits on the banks of a very large lake.....Lake Bras d'Or......and the town took advantage of this with plenty of seafood restaurants.

And......the outstanding stop in this town is the Alexander Graham Bell Museum. Bell moved here about middle age and remained here until his death. OMG....OMG.....I had NO idea just how much of an inventor this Renaissance Man was!!!!! He invented new aviation machines, hydrofoil type boats, was working on an x-ray machine, and many and many and many more inventions. He did sooooo much work with people who have speech problems, including Helen Keller. WOW......this museum was just incredible!!! We spent almost three hours there and did not begin to see all of the films, slide presentations, and exhibits that are there. This Alexander Graham Bell Museum is most definitely a......MUST SEE!!!!!! If you are ever up here, plan to spend a morning or an afternon there......you will not be disappointed!

After that wonderful afternoon, we went to the wharf....walked around a bit....and then went back to THH and fixed some BLT's for supper. The foggy weather comes and goes.....and who knows what tomorrow morning will bring????? IF, IF we can, we will take the John Cabot Trail....the 190 miles going up and around the Cape and makes a circle that can end right here. Only tomorrow will tell us........and I do hope we can drive it tomorrow rather than waiting until Monday.......

It has been a really great day..........relaxing and very meditative......and I do know that....

LIFE IS REALLY, REALLY GREAT!!!!!......And, I hope it is for all of you, also!!!!!
