OMG……this is the prettiest day we have had since arriving on Prince Edward Island!!!!!! Just a marvelous day……the sky soooooo blue, the water soooooo blue……and the temps warmed up to an almost too high degree, but the breezes were enough to assure that we were not miserable.
I was up at 7am…..and after the morning rituals, I fixed my French Roast coffee…and then attempted to get online….and it was soooo good for just a few minutes….and then??? I couldn’t get anything to download, never mind uploading pictures from yesterday. DAMN!
Soooo, I just enjoyed my coffee…..and then awakened the 1st Lady around 8am…..and then we just enjoyed a relaxing morning. I sat outside for the second cup of Fr. Roast….and then about mid-morning we all six gathered together and began to think about the day’s activities.
Before long we were on our way to the “Shopping Mall”…..a collection of little touristy stores and boutiques…..along with some eateries. We spent some time there….and before we knew it……it was time for a late lunch. We ate at a local café….and it was good….not outstanding, but the fried fish filets I had were very tasty and not overcooked.
Returning to the cg…….the 1st Lady and I then left to find a market/grocery store….and when we did, it was more of a general store with things and souvenirs for tourists than it was a place to purchase food items. Oh well…….we didn’t need that much anyway….and we soon returned to THH.
She then went to the laundry here at the KOA….and I managed to get online and get a great Wifi….enough to upload the rest of my pictures from yesterday. And…I was certainly glad to get online and get a few newspapers read to catch up on the happenings around the world!!!
The more I become acquainted with the PEI……the more interesting I find it. For example….the little highways that connect soooooooo many tiny little villages and a few towns….they are very much like thin spider webs that run across the island….not with curves, but more straight lines of roads and they intersect with other roads every 5-8 miles. For me….it reminds me of driving through the country in Missouri but the roads there are mainly gravel….and these roads are connecting these villages are hard surfaced/paved roads.
The farms are all….everyone of them…..sooooo neat, sooooo landscaped…..and you never see old, rusty farm equipment sitting around in view of everyone. They are just like a post card…..all just sooooo neat and proper!!!!! Almost as if they were a set for a movie…….almost like they had been drawn on this canvass and were being used for a back drop for some production. Amazing!!!!!
This evening….following the six of us gathering for a Happy Hour…..we drove all of 6 miles to the village of Stanley Bridge to attend a Ceilidh. Yep….that is what it is called……..it was a family musical show of Irish, a bit of Scotch, and Acadian with some French brought in……..four brothers and sisters who all played musical instruments and sang…..AND DANCED!!!!!! The two brothers did not dance….but played drums and the other one played the piano and was the host of the show. The two sisters played guitar and violin/fiddle…..sang and danced the traditional “step dances”……much like the Irish groups that perform around the world.
The show lasted 2.5 hours…..cost of $10 per person….and it was the best $10 we have spent per person since we left Missouri!!!!!! The music was very, very good, the dancing was outstanding….and the entire production, while being on the amateur side, was just marvelous……and it was an incredible evening!!! The cilidhs are a tradition here on the PEI…..and if you are ever here…..you must go see one!!!!!!!! It is like a family show that might be given for family members who are visiting………and this family was very talented, some more than others. I certainly would attend again if we only had the time to do so!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Afterwards…..we returned to Cavendish….and had ice cream cones at the Cow Ice Cream shop……….Reader’s Digest said it was the best ice cream in Canada!!!!!!! And…..it WAS very good!!!! Very creamy….and very tasty!!!!
We have only one more day left on the PEI…..and then on Friday we will take the ferry over to Nova Scotia for about a week. Sure hope the weather holds, but that might be asking for just a bit tooo much…..haha!! It has just been sooooo wonderful here…WOW!!! It has certainly made us realize that…….
LIFE IS JUST INCREDIBLY GREAT!!!!!!…..And, I hope it is for all of you, also!!!!!
