Day 29: WINDY, but a great day.....

The 1st Lady slept in....but I woke up AGAIN at 5am....and couldn't sleep, laid there and tried to keep from tossing and turning....and finally at 6:45 I pulled myself out of bed. Went through the morning rituals......my Fr. Roast coffee was done by the time I finished and it did taste good after having been laying awake for more than two hours!!

After we both ate breakfast.......she did a couple of loads of laundry....and then we went for a bike ride up the paved bike path to the point. Not very far.....a couple of miles at the most.....and then we walked around that area where our boat would be to pick us up this afternoon.

Returning to the campground, we drove the truck into town to go to the Post Office. The little town looked very clean and neat....and the city center businesses seemed to be doing really well......hats off to a great little "main street"!!!

We returned to THH and had a bite of lunch prior to returning to the point and the pier there. At 1pm, we boarded the boat.....and left on time 30 minutes later. We were told it would be an hour's trip to the whale area.....and so it was. It became colder and windier and the boat did quite a bit of rocking on the waves!!!!!!!!!!

We were there drifting quietly along with many other boats for what seemed a LONG time....when someone saw a "blow".....the whale exhaling with a rush.....and off we went in the boat to try to get to where he was by the time he would surface and then disappear not to be seen again. This happened several times over the 1.5 hours.....and yes, we could see several whales surface, BUT......not nearly as close to them as I had hoped we would be! And......almost impossible to get any pictures from the distances we were at when they surfaced and then disappeared. PLUS....there were about 100 people on the boat.....who all had the same idea that I had.......get a picture!!!!

We also saw several seals swimming by......but, the whales grabbed everyone's attention....and each time we would go rushing through the waves of the St. Lawrence Seaway....trying to reach them, but each time......just not as close as we wanted. The 1st Lady had done this type of thing several years ago with her mother off the coast of Maine......and she said that they managed to reach the whales.......really, really close up!!!!! DAMN!!!! Just my luck!!! Oh well......at least I did get to see some whales and NOT in captivity at Marineland or some other place like that!!!!

We returned to the pier...after 3.5 hours....and then returned to the campground. I am not feeling so good.....haven't been all day.....as I feel like I am coming down with a damned cold!!! SHIT........I hardly ever have a cold.....so WHY NOW???!!!! But.....a bit of a sore throat is evident...and I am feeling it in my chest as I hack and cough. Probably not good that we were in the strong cold winds soooo much this afternoon and out on the cold waters of the Seaway!!! Oh well.........some OTC meds will be taken tonight and maybe it will be better tomorrow!!!

Tomorrow.....unless I am REALLY under the weather, we will leave here for New Brunswick.....not sure where we will stop for the night.....but the destination eventually is on the Bay of Fundy for a few days. Have not reserved any place.....this is soooooo damn difficult trying to figure out how much time is needed to do the sight-seeing we want to do....and still not stay too long and still have a place to hook up each night....and fight the crowds....and drive uncertain type roads...and....and....and........you get the picture?????? Just the "unknown" that is driving us crazy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What to do....where to stop....how long to stay......do we need reservations..........will we not have a place to stay for a night somewhere.......ahhhh, the thoughts that keep us awake...and will again tonight!!

However.........it has been good day.....and,

LIFE IS REALLY GREAT!!!!!.....And, I hope it is for all of you, also!!!!
