Day 28: A short trip northeast to Rivere du Loup, Quebec

Well, the sun came up early today....and the light streaming through the windows somehow awakened my tired body WAY tooooo early (5:00AM)!! Sooo, I just laid there and drifted in and out of a light sleep.....until about 6:45...and then I got up and went through my morning rituals. The coffee was ready when I was ready for it......and carrying it outside, I began the looking up the visual pathway at the route that I would have to use to get THH out of this wayyyyy tooooo huge campground.

I soon realized that to get this monster moving and turning a 90 degree angle around the corner tree that it sat next to, I would have to talk with the French lady across the narrow street and somehow ask her to move her SUV so I could get out. An easier task to write than I expected it to be realistically. Soooo, as luck would have it, by the time I had most of the umbilical cords detached, she was outside in her lawn chair letting the morning sun work it's leathery wonders on her aging, skinny body.......a body with brightly dyed red hair......can you picture that???

Soooo, I haul my sagging ass across the gravel street and give her a cheerful "BonJOURRRR"....attempting to say it the way the French pronounce and speak it! (Good Morning/Day) Hmmmm, the way she immediately looked at me made me realize that my French was not up to her standards for correctness.....! So be it.....I thought to myself.....and inquired: "Parlez-vous Anglais?".......Do you speak English? Thinking all the time that how on God's green earth could I ever get the idea across to her that I needed her to move her damn SUV so I could move TheHowserHouse out of this campground?!!

Well..........Wonders upon wonders.....she spoke and understood "un petite Anglais" ....a little English!!! HOORAY!!!! Soooo, after talking to her in a lentemente (very slowly) way.....she understood and hesitantly told me she could move it soon. SUCCESS!!!!

Sooo, the remaining parts of getting THH prepared to move up the road were fairly simple and, soon the skinny little aging red-haired lady with the soon-to-be sun-dried skin (like sun-dried tomatoes)......moved her SUV.

The 1st Lady had the inside of THH ready to go.....a few pictures put away, all loose items safely stored, all cabinets securely fastened...etc., etc. And, so I hitched THH to the truck in one swift and easy move....and I was able to make the 90 degree turn without a problem.....and moving slowly and with great contemplation at each corner, we soon exited the campground and on to the highway we went.

It was about 130 miles from the cg to the town of Rivere du Loup......a lovely town looking down upon a bay of the St. Lawrence Seaway.......and this IS the seaway. WOW, it is soooooo wide...I must find out how far it is across this extremely wide body of water. It was a really easy trip.......I made one stop as soon as I had cell phone service to call and make a reservation at the Quai du Loup campground.

We arrived about 11:45 am......and soon were escorted to our site.....a site with a gorgeous view of the bay on the other side of the street which runs down to the end of the point where the whale-watching boats depart from. After getting all of the umbilical cords attached......I drove the mile or so down the street, located the office of the boat company....and soon had reservations for the 1:30pm trip tomorrow afternoon. Wow....I was excited about the prices.....a lot less than I had anticipated: $62.00 per person, with a senior discount of several dollars!!!!

And so, returning to the cg.......we just kicked back and relaxed a bit in this gorgeous weather in this open and really nice cg. Lots of pine trees around along with aspen and birch.......and the view of the tide rolling in to cover the mud flats that were there when we arrived. I went outside to enjoy the view and soon the fellow next to us in his rv....wandered over to look at the license plate on the truck!!!

"Meesureeee", he carefully pronounced. And then began an interesting few minutes of talking to him and each of us trying all ways possible to get the other one to understand what we each were saying!! It became comical and we both broke down in laughter at this scene we had created!!! His wife then came over and the same type of conversation began again.....and I did understand that she was talking about how HUGE our RV is......and so, I invited them both inside to take a look around!!!!

The 1st Lady about came unglued as she also then had to join our French-English conversation about the inside of the RV......and so forth. I never knew for certain just what they were talking about to us.....but they continued to smile and gesture to various things in THH!!!!! We ended this comical scene.....could easily have been written for "I Love Lucy"!!!!......and they departed with several "Au Revoirs"....and...."Abientots"......all meaning Goodbye. What a fun 15 minutes!!!!

It wasn't long before the beautiful afternoon began to wane.....and so, we had a light supper of some of the best corn-on-the-cob I have had in several years.....WOW!! Sooooooo damn good!!!!

Later we went for a walk along the bike pathway beside the bay and out to the point. We didn't have time to go all the way because the 1st Lady was also doing some laundry and needed to return to get it picked up. But......it was soooo nice, so quiet, so very pleasant after the past few days of seeing Quebec City!!! Just plain nice to be in the pine trees and along the bay which are all visible through the windows on THH!!!

And soooo, we are anxiously awaiting tomorrow. The young man who sold me the tickets said that the whales have been quite visible the past few days to those who went out to see them!!! Love this place......another summer residence type of place.....cool and stunningly beautiful!!! Ahhhhhh........

LIFE IS SOOOOOOO DAMN GREAT!!!!!!!......And, I hope it is for all of you, also!!!!!
