As usual this week, I awoke at 4:30AM......UGH!!!!! I believe it is happening because of the time changes that my sagging hulk went through this week: a change last Sat. to EDT.....and the about 5 hours later, the change to EasternTime......and then on Wed the change to Central Time......and not only can I not get it all figured out, neither can by sagging hulk of a body!!!!! Sooooo, I continue wake up in the wee hours of the morning. NOW.......in just four days I will have to turn my watch back......8 HOURS......when we arrive in Cairo........ohhhhhhh, my poor aging hulk!!!!!
Then.....the morning was going fairly well.......by late morning I had finished my chores, our two mile power walk, and was having my third cup of Fr. Roast Coffee out on the patio under a gorgeous blue sky with crisp temps.....when the phone rang. It was LensCrafters!!!!! My sunglasses were back and ready to try on. Sooooooo.......
Off I drove.....through the 50 miles of woods and hills and ROAD CONSTRUCTION.....to Cape Girardeau. Yep....made it in an hour........not too damn bad! Went inside the mall.....and got this funny, sinking feeling that they weren't going to be correct. Sat down and they put them on me......and I couldn't read a damn thing!!!! AND...the distance part was not sharp, and slightly distorted on the sides. DAMN!!!!! Soooooo, I complained.....and they took them into the "lab"....not certain that is the correct word for this "place"......and after a few minutes they came back and I tried them on again. Somewhat better. BUT.....back they went again....and several times they did this.....making adjustments each time.
Finally, I told them I would take them....I could read most things....and when I returned from our trip to Egypt/Jordan, I would come back for more "fine tuning". Sooooo, the adjusted the fit and I left.........only to walk down the mall and out the front door and by that time, the damn things had slid down most of the length of my thick nose!!!!! Soooooo, back I go again......can you believe this SHIT????? You have to!!! And......more adjustments to the fit, the temple areas, etc., etc. And......back outside I go again.
This time.......mucho better and I left hurridly for F'town.....as we had to leave in 1.5 hours for STL for the visitation of our daughter-in-law's mother at the funeral home. Arriving back home.....I clean up, iron a shirt, get dressed.....and off we go to STL. Jeremy had already left in his truck as he was going to the visitation and then down to Cape Girardeau to be with friends.....and said he would meet us in the morning in STL for the funeral.
During all of this hurried time at home, Jeremy made reservations to fly to Washington DC next Wednesday.....an hour after our flight leaves for New York City.....so we can all go up the the airport together. He has a couple of appointments with a couple of Senators at the Capitol for some campaign discussions...........
We went to the visitation with hundreds of others........Sarah Young was a very well liked and popular lady of 69 years........and the line was long and stretched out for a long ways as they tried to get inside the little room where the visitation was being held. A great testament to what a wonderful lady she was during her not-very-long-Life!!
Leaving there after a couple of hours, we started for F'town. We made a stop at a Wendy's at a QT truck/gas stop......ate a burger....and came out and the car would NOT start!!!!!! SHIT!!!! What to do???? No mechanic here, they said! So, called our emergency road service and 45 minutes later they arrived. At about the same time, I had called Mike Goldsmith, in F'town, to see if he come pick us up.....about 56 miles from F'town.........and he told me hang up because he thought is daughter, Kayla, was coming down from STL. He called back and said she was just pulling into that very gas station right then!!!!!!!! WOW......is this luck, or what????
Sooooo, then he calls back and said she has no money, no credit card, and she is OUT of gas and might need a small loan!!! OK......THAT is not a problem with us stranded in the same place. Then the service truck arrives and after looking under the hood, he says the battery cables are loose!!!! WHAT the hell???? Soooo, the good guy tightens them for us....the car starts....the battery charges....Kayla gets gas for her car......and off we go towards F'town, with Kayla following us and I watch in the rear view mirror BECAUSE.....she only put in $5 worth of gas......!!!! She must get tremendous gas mileage!!!
Not to fear....we both arrive in town safely and manage to get our respective abodes with no problem. WHAT a day........WHAT an evening!!!!!!! Exhaustion is now setting in on my sagging hulk....which is now sagging even more. If I walk across the floor, I will step on the sags........isn't THAT a great mental visual??????!!!!!
And now......it is time to close out this day before something else occurs in my Life! Tomorrow....it is back to STL for the 10AM funeral.......and at the last "Amen", we have to jump into the car and go 150 miles for the 2pm wedding of my great nephew in Waynesville. Is this a relaxing weekend??? Is this the way to prepare for a trip almost to the other side of the world in four short days????? Hmmmmm.........what next, what next?????? However,.........
LIFE IS GREAT!!!!!!.....And, I hope it is for all of you, also!!!!!!
