Day 1, Post #2
Well…….we are now sitting in the waiting area of Egypt Airlines. We had a bite to eat at the Samual Adams Bar and Grill……….nothing special about it, but it sure looked better than McDonald’s!! Our flight does not leave for another two hours, but don’t know how long it will take to board everyone. We stood in line to get our boarding passes at the check-in counter for an hour……it was supposed to open at 2pm, but didn’t open until after 2:30. Oh well……
We had two great conversations/discussions with the young “couple” in front of us and the older “couple” behind us. I started talking to the younger ones……in their 20’s…..as they had a luggage tag that read: “Friendly Planet Tours”. Wellllll….I have been checking them out lately as their prices seem really, really low for ALL that is included. Sooooo, asking them if they had gone with the company before, the young man emphatically stated “YES!!”…..and “they are incredible”. So…..our conversations went from there……as the 1st Lady and I have been thinking about doing Thailand with that tour co. He had been to S. America with them and said it was sooooo great, hotels were wonderful….etc.etc.etc. And…..he had friends who went with them to Thailand and said it was the best tour they had ever taken. Soooooo…….we will continue to watch for open dates next year (??) with Friendly Planet……not to be confused with “Lonely Planet”…..the publisher of those superb books on traveling cheaply.
The couple behind us were together….we guess….and she is making her 1st trip out of the country….and seemed a bit hesitant about it. He…..well, he is Indonesian and travels all the time….all of his life…..and they are traveling together. Whatever……ha-ha…….that’s Life in the this big world of ours.
Now…….I am a bit concerned……there already are three BABIES sitting here with their parents….and they are screaming and crying very loudly……DAMN!!!! NOT what I wanted to hear on an eleven hour flight overnight!!!!! One other time I flew to London for only six hours and this little one screamed ALL night long……and she was in the seat directly in front of me…..WHEW!!!!!! WHAT a night!! Not a night I would like to repeat.
And so…….no wifi here in this concourse without a hefty price tag and so I will have to publish this when I get to Cairo to the hotel. But……at least my thoughts will not be forgotten during the night/day of flying.
Life IS Great!!!!!….And, I hope it is for all of you, also!!!!
