Sunday……..to Amman:
Well……this morning was a slow one for this sagging hulk which was sagging quite a bit today. After a rough night with King Tut, I finally raised up at 4:00AM……..showered and got the 1st Lady out of bed. We had to be in the Lobby of the hotel at 5:30AM to be picked up by the agent for STI Travel to be transported to Cairo International for our flight to Amman……departing at 8AM.
I was not feeling good and so was a bit concerned about the procedures necessary for boarding……the long lines, the long time to get it all done. However, things went smoothly and we arrived in Amman in a bit less than an hour after take-off from Cairo.
The agent in Amman was a bit late in meeting us……which brought about some tiny bit of concern when we were just standing around waiting to get our Visa and go through passport control. He arrived and explained that he had taken a couple of other traveler to the airport for their departure for Vienna, and then on to Paris…..and they had been “bumped” due to overbooking……UGH!!!! They obviously were going to miss their connection to Paris!
So, he purchased our Visas as that is part of the tour price for us……and then we went through the control points and MORE security……..security just to LEAVE the airport terminal! A 30 minute ride into Amman and we were soon checked into the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Amman……..an extremely nice facility with tennis courts, two pools, health club and five restaurants, plus our room is quite nice with three phones, etc., etc.
Amman seems quite clean in comparison with Cairo!!!!! Very Middle Eastern looking, but very warm and friendly people……….nice to also see pine trees for a change from the sands of the desert. We spent a bit of time just resting…….it was a very early morning and a very short night. Then we took a walk………bought some bottled water, checked out the restaurant menus, checked out the indoor pool/hot tubs, etc., etc. and did a bit of looking at a small shopping mall beside the hotel.
Then…….can you believe it? We watched the Mizzou-Kansas football game on a channel broadcast over here….albeit rebroadcast!!!!! GREAT to see them win over Kansas……of course!!!! Sorry….Kansas fans!!!!
This evening…..again, just enjoying a relaxed schedule. We may walk over to Burger King for a change. I am still nursing my weak tummy….and don’t want to overload it with spicy Middle Eastern cuisine!!!!! Need to get this problem under control……soon!!!! We are theorizing that it may possibly be caused by the “extras” they put into the bottled water…..one of which does create a laxative type reaction…..and this particular one is 14% of the extras in the “spring water”!!!!!!
And soooooo……..a very laid-back ending to a rough start this morning……and, of course, even with the beginning today….
LIFE IS REALLY GREAT!!!!!!!…….And, I hope it is for all of you, also!!!!

Get some soda water or sparkling water and squeeze some limes into it. The lemons in this part of the world are really limes. Soda with lime will help to settle your stomach, as will something called Antinal. Also just eating very small meals often will help. Sounds like a great holiday. Jordan is supposed to be lovely. Never been there myself.
