What a difference 200 miles can make!

We left the Tetons this morning around 9:30am.......sadly we left them! But all good things must come to a close......at least temporarily. We drove up and over the pass which was almost 10,000 feet with snow beside the roadway at the top....check the pic of the 1st lady. Then, down we went....thank goodness for the exhaust brake which I had installed on the truck. It certainly helped keep the foot off the brakes.....and therefore, no hot or fading brakes with over 13,000 lbs. pushing us down the moutain roads.

We descended into very warm weather, and it soon became like a desert. Stopped at Riverton, WY for a quick......perhaps not sooo quick......stop at a SuperMart. Just can't seem to pass one by, but anyway we restocked cheaper than at the Teton area. Onward we went, turning north, until we arrived in Thermopolis......the home of the world's largest mineral hot springs. We have been here 7 years ago.....so the hot springs is not a big thing with us. We did enjoy coming up thru some canyon on the way to Thermopolis......and every few miles there were little brown signs describing the rocks/cliffs next to the road......from many prehistoric periods......from 200 to 500 million years ago!!!!!

This little town is the center of dinsoaur digging for people from all over the USA. At the cg we are currently at, there are abour 35 geology students here studying the rocks, etc.,etc. We may visit the dinosaur digs tomorrow......not sure as the heat may be a factor. Difficult to take after this morning being in mid-thirties, and now it is in the low 90's!!!! I would like to see the digs.....along with the petroglyphs about 35 miles from here. Talked with several in the cg, and they say they are really something to see!!!

From here.....whenever.....we will go another 50 miles north/northeast to Tensleep, WY.....at the foot of the Big Horns. Hope to get up into them to fish without muddy streams!!!!! I AM HOPING!!!!!

We do have 5 tower cell phone service, so this is an easy night getting this posted. Will post some pics from the past two days, along with this morning's trip. Don't know if we will have service or not when we get to the Big Horn area........?????

Andy.......again, soooo sorry to hear about your grandmother!!!!!! Don't overwork yourself and your summer if you take that temp. job at Holiday Inn. Some down time keeps the burnouts from happening........!!!

Great to hear from so many of you..........it is great to know that you are reading/enjoying this!!!!

Later.......
