TWO Beautiful Days

Friday, June 10, 2005

THE most beautiful day we have experienced in two weeks!!!! Awoke to a deep blue sky with no clouds to be seen……anywhere!! It was cold last night….upper 20’s, but today has a great forecast.

Soooo, after a battery check…..we are using more battery juice than I thought we would….guess it is the furnace which we really doooo need at night. May have to lower the thermostat tonight, though…..as we are not hooked up to electricity and we are not allowed to run the gennie after 8pm each night. Anyway…..that last sentence didn’t come out just right…….we got ready and went to the local park store, bought our fishing licenses and some worms for fishing. GOOD GOD…….our licenses cost $86.00 each!!!!! Need to move to Wyoming and become a resident……right????

Drove down to Jackson Lake Dam….6 miles away……and went below it and began the “ordeal” of using new fishing rods and reels, plus just adjusting to the strong flow of the Snake River coming out of the dam. Lots of hooks and sinkers were lost by the two of us over the next 4.5 hours……kept getting caught in the rocks below the fast currents. Anyway…..I got skunked…..the 1st Lady caught a HUGE sucker…….which we quickly tossed back into the river. Then later on she caught a nice trout….think it was a lake trout…..about 12-13” long. We kept it…of course….and it is now in the freezer. BUT, that is all we caught…..no one else along the river side caught any either, so didn’t feel toooooo bad about this. It was a wonderful place to fish……with such great scenic visuals all the time.

The Tetons…..well, they were at their finest hour today…..all day!! I took several pics….and will attempt to download them on this tonight. Actually……some of the best views of the peaks that I have experienced in many trips to this Park……in my mind, the BEST National Park we have!!!!
Mike/Merrie……you MUST come out here……to fish…..to enjoy the mt. air….to see the wildlife with the boys……to fish with the boys…..to see the views that only God could have put on this earth. We are acutally thinking and discussing working out here for the season…..perhaps next year???? Most jobs are either held by college students or retired people……OLD people like you know who. But……it looks like such fun living here and making some money at the same time. We keep talking to everyone we meet who is working here.

This evening we drove back down to Signal Mt Lodge and ate dinner…….wonderful!!! AND…..we were overlooking the Lake and watching the changing colors of the mountains across the lake as the clouds swirled around and over them. Incredible evening.

Sooooo, I am running my gennie ILLEGALLY……it should be off, but want to get this written with electricity and then paste it to my blog after nine when the phone call is free. Tomorrow…….more fishing. We probably will be here several more days…..until later next week…….why not??? It is only $7.50 per night to camp here, as I mentioned last night…….can’t beat it. Even gave it some thought to stay here if I could get a job, the 1st Lady could fly back, and then I could come back in October. Hmmmmm…….SUCH an interesting thought…….
More tomorrow…….send your comments/emails. I enjoy hearing from you.

Hmmmmm, NO cell service last night….only one bar and that is not enough to get onto the internet out here. Of course, now my cell phone needs charging so it is in the little warm cradel getting some more power infused into it. It always looks soooo at rest when it lays there getting its daily potion of juice and energy.

Looks like it might not be as nice as our #1 day yesterday……damn it. At 6am it was beautiful, but now the clouds have crossed over the mountains and it is overcast and much cooler. Gennie is running (before 8...another illegal move on my part so I could make my Gevalia Fr. Roast coffee), and the heat is surging thru TheHowserHouse, the lappie is getting more energy infused into it along with the cellie, and all is well with us.

I will attempt to send this out thru cyberspace as soon as the cellie is thru getting repowered.
Well, it is mid-afternoon and finally have cell service. Now….probably running the lappie batter down…..hahaha. We went fishing this morning below the dam again…..and I managed to land a 19” cutthroat trout!!!! Think it may have been the largest trout I have ever caught……??? Not sure, but think so…… Anyway, it will be quite a pan full when we cook it tomorrow.

Will go ahead and post this now in case there is poor cellie service this evening.
