TWO DAYS WITHOUT CELL SERVICE.......

Sunday, June 5, 2005

Today was the best day as far as the weather goes!!! It was an absolutely flawless day……even reached up to 68 degrees…..PERFECT!!! Hardly a cloud in the blue, blue sky……PERFECT!!! YEAH……

As far as the rest of the day……it was laid back and relaxing. The man who was my “best man” in our wedding called this morning……and we began to lay some tentative plans for he and his wife, Mac and Gail, and the 1st Lady and I…..to spend this coming weekend together. IF he can get away from his commitments and get over here to the west side of this state, it will be the first time that he, Mac, and I have been together since 1971 when the 1st Lady and I were married……..35 years!!!! We three were stationed at Offutt AFB, NE, during the 60’s….the VietNam era……and spent many a vacation and weekend trout fishing in the Black Hills. The three of us even climbed to the top of Cloud Peak…..the tallest mountain in the Big Horns……back in 1971. We are all hoping that Terry will be able to join us this weekend.

The 1st Lady and I spent some time this afternoon on our bikes. We rode for several miles up the valley…….such a great day for a ride!! Then this evening after a great dinner with Gail and Mac, we all four drove up into the mountains on the western side of the valley…..into Idaho……scouting the stream that rushes down a valley to see if the water is clearing up. Once again…..the 1st Lady wins the award for good eyesight……she spotted a lone elk standing in a meadow!!!

And now…….the thunderstorms are arriving and rain is pelting the top of TheHowserHouse. But…..all is secure and dry……and a rather nice way to enjoy the late evening while reading.
Tomorrow…….IF I can even get this posted. Not been able to get online all day as the service has been ……well,…..I won’t describe it in those words. So it may be tomorrow……

Well, as you can see, I could NOT get cell service last night, nor all day today!!!! Of course, we had terrible storms with lots of rain, AND…..this afternoon it snowed not tooo far up the mountainside from the campground/resort, and it sleeted here!!! This weather is getting really OLD……cold, cold rain and lots of it…..ALL DAY!!!! The streams will never clear up………thank goodness for a warm comfortable RV!!!!!!

Our planned reunion is not going to take place…….Terry, my best man at our wedding, could not get out of his commitments so he isn’t coming over here this weekend. I will go over there to Greybull, WY to see him before we leave the state. Therefore……IF it doesn’t rain in the morning, we will probably move up to Teton National Park. BUT……I don’t want to sit there in the rain with the tops of those beautiful peaks hidden in gray clouds!!! We are beginning to think of alternatives to this area, however, the entire western mountain area is in the same type weather pattern, soooooo what to do??? Infuriating!!!!!

Looks like the weather in Missouri is NOT what we would like to be in, even tho we are tired of the cold rain. Would rather have that then the heat/humidity. Ran into some lady in the local market today and she was from the Lake of the Ozarks prior to moving out here…….to ESCAPE the heat/humidity problems of Missouri!!! I told her that I know what she is referring to and hate it just as much as she did.

WHEN the sun was out later today, the local scenery was once again breath-taking!!!!! Think I need to move out here…….!!! Well, IF I have service when I finish this…..I am typing on Works and will copy and paste so I don’t lose this if I lose connection when trying to post/publish this…….I will attempt to send a couple of pics.

Will try to post again tomorrow, but if we move, then who knows?????? Doubt if the national parks have very good cell service!! Until then……..

You are in an absolutely GORGEOUS area! Hope you don't mind if we bring the mozzys along. :) We hope to be leaving here (Caribbean) tomorrow and heading for the Gulf Coast. We'll see. :)

Have you checked out the Datastorm tripod unit? It is about $60/month for service, and about $1200 for the initial equipment and installation. It is expensive, but you will have Internet connectivity anywhere and anytime. It is satellite Internet connectivity.

I'm sure you've checked it out, but if not, try
http://www.datastormusers.com/ for a forum (and lots of question answering) of Datastorm users and here is a website about the tripod unit
