Sat/Sun, Oct 16/17, 2010: Have we LOST our minds......??????

OK....yesterday morning, it seemed to be bedlam around the house as we all tried to get packed, get the house put back together, get the dishes washed, get the towels washed and dried, etc., etc.......as we had to be out of the house by 11am!! And.....we were locking the door at 11am sharp. Outside in a car sat a young lady who was from the home management agency who was there to check on the status of the house after we had lived in it for 8 days! Guess it passed....haven't heard anything as yet. Dr. Jeni/Darrel, and the four grandchildren then all headed to the airport for their early afternoon flight back to St. Louis.

The 1st Lady and I left and then went to the Ramada Inn, not far from the entrance to Disney World. We had a special discount brouchure......and we got a room with two double beds for $32.99.......a damn good price, even if it is the "off-season". We unloaded our luggage, and then headed for Epcot.........about 10 minutes from the hotel.

OK......Epcot's 15th annual Food and Wine Festival is happening.....and everyone must know about it because the place was absolutely packed!!! We took a couple of rides prior to going over to the World walkway around the lake.....and when we got there, WOW...WOW!!!! Was that area ever packed.......people standing in line with at least 30-50 people in each line at each kiosk to purchase some small bites and small glasses of wine. We ate at the Greek kiosk, the England kiosk, and one other one.......all the food was just "fair", and the wine samplings were not too bad. I enjoyed the Chardonnay from the Greek Isles.......pretty damn good.

We didn't enjoy the standing in line, but it was fun to visit with people while we waited our turn to order and then to eat. When we were eating at an outside table, we were joined at the table by a young couple from NYC, but who are originally from Nigeria. It was great fun to talk with them and how they got from Nigeria to NYC....!!

We also went through the Canada building......a wonderful 360 degree in the round film for about 15 minutes, showing the various beautiful places of Canada......many of which we had seen in the past couple of years. Some beautiful photography!!!!!

We left Epcot for the last time around 4:30.....as we had a dinner engagement with friends whom we met several years ago during our first winter in the Rio Grande Valley in Texas. They are full-timers.....living in their HUGE Teton 5th wheel trailer full time......and who have enjoyed working at the Food and Wine Festival each year. Soooo, we met them at 6:30 in Haines City, FL, about 15 miles south of the hotel......and had such an incredible evening with them, along with good food at Manny's Chop House. Sooooo much fun to see them again....and we laughed our way through the entire evening.

Afterwards, we returned to the hotel for the night. Not the best hotel in the world, but it was clean and we slept well........

Today, we left the Orlando area around 10AM.....and headed east to Cocoa Beach, Florida.....about 2 miles from the NASA/Kennedy Space Center. And so....the newest story of our lives: We were turning around on a dead-end street as we tried to get to the beach area.....and this gentleman hailed us, and came over to the car. He immediately began to talk about this time-share place.....and told us we could stay there for two nights at the Ron Jon Resort for $50.....TWO nights.....for just listening to this presentation. Well, we agreed.....and within a few hours, many questions, much discussion, a lot of looking at units..........we had signed the contract for a two bedroom, two bath time-share here at Cocoa Beach. Yep......something we had never thought about doing......but, just like last year in Wyoming when we purchased the site for our RV at the Star Valley RV Resort, this was a good deal!!!!! It was a time-share contract that the couple had just forfeited....and all we will pay is about 25% of the total cost.

Not something we normally do.....jump into something like this, but this really does seem like a great deal, as there are some other perks in the way we can spend very little for a short term notice of other places that are available......we shall see!!!! However.....the price was good....and so we now own some property ON THE BEACH in Florida. Hmmmmmm........as I said, "have we lost our minds?" I don't think so!

And soooo, we will be here in Cocoa Beach until we finish with the tour of the Kennedy Space Center on Tuesday afternoon, and then we plan to head north along the east coast of Florida with St. Augustine as our next stop for a day or two of sight-seeing. We may also see a former student for dinner.........where don't I have a former student?????? HAHA.......I believe I could travel across the USA and always have a former student someplace to have dinner with!!!

And soooo,.......as always......

LIFE IS JUST REALLY, REALLY GREAT!!!!!!....And, I hope it is for all of you, also!!!!
