Fri, Oct. 15, 2010: The last day at DW for the family.....

Another morning, another round of "hurry up!!" statements to the kids, another dash to Disney World, and another rush to get the cars parked, onto a tram with two strollers, off of the tram, through the security bag check which I must admit is completely cursory, rush to the ferry or monorail(today we took the ferry), and then the line to get into the Magic Kingdom with the plastic pass cards, along with the scan of our finger print which was initially made the first time we entered last Saturday.

THEN.......the push and shove and waiting and running into people as we made our way slowly up to the castle area. Thousands and thousands.....quite literally...... were pouring into the Magic Kingdom today.....absolutely unbelievable!!!!!! This was the worst day yet as far as the horrendous numbers of people in the Magic Kingdom, or anywhere for that matter!!! I kept thinking, as we crept up Main Street....: "Are we having fun yet????" (NO!!)

We part company there, as Darrel and Dr. Jeni and Max went shopping for a princess dress and shoes for Ava to wear, the 1st Lady took Rachel, Meghan, and Ava, I thought, to Tomorrowland to ride the inside space roller coaster.....and the sagging hulk of Me???? I went looking for some coffeee.....GOOD coffee!! But, woe is me......the only kind of coffee to be found was the same as all over DW........hold on to your seats: Nescafe!!!!! And.....it tastes just like instant....and, it looks just like instant, with all of the foamy stuff on top of the lightly tanned liquid. OMG.....it is the most horrible shit I have drank since I was in Europe 9 years ago!!!!!!! (Many places serve that over there, unless you specify not to pour you a cup of it.)

But....for lack of anything else....I sat down at an outside table and tried to get it down......and managed to swallow half of the medium sized cup before I just gave up in disgust! The morning "Celebration Parade" came up Main Street and wound around in front of the castle and then back down the street. Feeling week for lack of caffeine, I walked slowly over to Tomorrowland, stepping on others' feet, having strollers roll over mine, once a little Asian boy....pre-school....ran right between my legs as I was walking! Just moving from one place to another was exactly like taking your Life into your own hands!!!

And, of course...I should have known better....the 1st Lady with the three girls was no place to be seen!!!!! Oh yeah.....I looked around as best as I could, but felt certain they were not there. Just didn't feel any "vibes" of them being there. Soooo, I sat and watched the thousands in the throngs push and shove their way past the tiny little piece of concrete wall that I had perched my sagging ass upon.........silently laughing at all of these people as they attempted to get to the rides, dragging their children along with them, pushing strollers, and wheel chairs.....and senior citizens who probably were about 67 years old, were driving those battery operated riders so they could move around without their arthritis bothering them. I wondered how many little children were run over in this melee by these old codgers buzzing along as best they could within the crowds!!??

After about an hour of this "people watching", I received a text message from the 1st Lady saying they were in Adventureland.....and wondering where I was! Soooo, across the Kingdom I slowly went, stepping on more toes and having mine stepped and rolled over more than I certainly wanted!! An absolute endurance contest it was to get to the other side of the Kingdom!!!

Looked around at the area where the 1st Lady had said they were located.....and they were not to be found there!!!! Of course.....once again I was really dumb to think they would be standing there with open arms to welcome me from Tomorrowland.......and soooo, I texted again, only to find out they had joined forces with Dr. Jeni/Darrel/Max and were sequestered behind a wall having a light lunch!!!!! And, so I munched on a few VERY dry chicken nuggets and about died when these dry little pieces of fried breasts would stick in my throat....OMG...they were terrible!!! And....that also sums up my feelings for the food choices and quality here at DW....UNLESS you have a sit-down meal which can cost a small fortune even IF you have a reservation!!!s Just at the order-yourself counter, a hot dog or a hamburger can cost anywhere from $7.00 to $9.80!!!!

And so, after I survived these bits of very dry breast meat catching in my throat, we went off to ride in this "classic" ride......the trip down the jungle rivers of the world with all of these damn fake animals, snakes, and natives appearing on cue when the boat would trigger the right reaction from them by running over a switch to turn on these animals and people!!!! It had only taken 40 minutes of standing in line to make it to the boat to ride this "dangerous" ride......."having fun yet?" came to my mind as I stood single file between two ropes for those 40 minutes, shuffling my way to the riverside where the dangers began!! (really think it was more dangerous out in the streets of the Kingdom!!)

Ahhhh......Rachel and Meghan decided we should ride the space roller coaster......guess where??? TOMORROWLAND.....on the other side of the Kingdom, once again! Soooooo, off we went, pushing two strollers, trying to keep Meghan and Rachel with all of us.....and then.....DAMN! That "Celebration Parade" was happening again!!! Soooo, we stood in the hot sun watching it as we waited to cross the street on our way to Tomorrowland! And soooo, after finally arriving in that space haven of the Kingdom, we found out that it would be 80 minutes before we could actually board a spacecraft to ride........80 minutes of standing single file in a roped off line!!!! And.....we all said to the girls very loud and clear: "NO!!!! We are not going on that ride!!" After all, they had ridden it once earlier in the week!!

Soooo, back down Main Street we pushed our way....and into some of those wonderful shops full of wonderful souvenirs to take back home to bring back the memories of being pushed and shoved and stepped on...this last day of our Magic Kingdom visit!!!! Not much was purchased.....and so, we pushed our way to the monorail this time, rode around the lake, and exited at the entrance where we then stood in line to catch the tram out to the parking lot where we had left our cars. Wrestling two strollers on the tram and then limping on sore feet and bruised toes, we found our cars and promptly loaded everyone up and packed away the strollers and made the rather quick drive back out to our rental house. It was 6pm when we returned.....having left this morning at 9AM!!!!!

And this evening, the pool and hot tub beckoned us, as Dr Jeni and Darrel went out on their private "date night" to some clubs in the Disney Town area. Soooo, there you have it.........the last day with the family here at DW. The four grandkids and Dr. Jeni and Darrel have to catch their flight to STL tomorrow afternoon......and we have to get the house closed down and locked properly....and then find a hotel room for the night. We still have one more day for DW...think we will return to Epcot...and then meet our good friends for drinks and dinner tomorrow evening......Ron and Linda from the RGV in Texas!!

And soooo,.......as always........even with the horrendous crowds,.......

LIFE IS JUST REALLY, REALLY AMAZINGLY GREAT!!!!!!.....And, I hope it is for all of you, also!!!!!
