Mon/Tue..Oct 18/19, 2010: Two MARVELOUS days.......

Hmmmm......one of the last things that I posted just previously was......."have we lost our minds?", or words to that effect. Well, yesterday morning (Mon) we discussed in our room over coffee/tea and a bite or two of breakfast....the rather rapid decision we had made concerning purchasing a time share condo. And......after weighing the positive and the negative aspects of this decision...and there were definitely many aspects for each........we both agreed that we didn't believe we needed to do this type of purchase at this point in our lives. Much research had been done the night before.....and the 1st Lady had not turned out the lights until almost 2AM as she researched and dug and dug deeper about this particular time share company.......and the enormous amount of very negative reviews online about this company and their many problems......of which one of them is the class action suit which had/has been filed against them and with the company having to change their policies. Well......we were both certain about our feelings.....both of us agreeing that we just needed to cancel this contract and forget about it for now. And........we have ten days in which to get out of the contract, so......after more tea an coffee, we went to the office here in the Ron Jon Resort....Club Caribe......and talked to a really nice young man. Interestingly enough, he did not try to talk us into staying with our contract!!!!!

We wrote our our letter requesting the contract be nullified and then we asked for a receipt for this letter. He immediately agreed, went into the main offices and within a few brief moments he returned with letter agreeing to this decision and stating when our money would be sent to us, it was notarized as I requested, and.........once again an interesting part of this was the fact that this letter of receipt and agreement with us was a FORM letter. Hmmmm, sort of tells me that this occurs quite often....doesn't it you??? Soooooo.......hopefully this is all said and done with and that no further problems will occur. The law IS on OUR side...with the 10 days in which to back out of the contract, so the company cannot do anything about it. It had been much less than 24 hours since we had originally signed it!!

Sooooo.......the 1st Lady was feeling really great!!!! She had remained awake most of the night, tossing and turning.....worrying about this decision we had made......and now it is resolved. And so, we changed into our bathing suits, grabbed our beach towels, took some lunch snacks in a bag, applied the sun block lotions.....and off we went to the beach. The hotel/club furnishes a tram to take everyone almost all the way......and we were on the beach in less then 10 minutes after leaving our room!!!

We rented a beach umbrella and two beach chaise loungers......and the rest of the afternoon....4.5 hours....we enjoyed the beach which had very few people on it. The water was beautiful with dolphins enjoying themselves from time to time as they surfaced.....we walked at least a mile down the beach and back......and just thoroughly relaxed.......something we needed to do!!! Decompress would be a better word for the afternoon!!!!!

About 4pm, we returned to the hotel, showered, and then got the car and drove a few blocks up to an area of seafood cafes......and had a very good dinner along the pier and outside as the sun began to set in the west. I ordered blackened grouper with new red potatoes.....and the 1st Lady had fresh shrimp....fried to perfection!!! This was a delightful meal and early evening.......and one which was great enough that we would certainly return to this place again: Rusty's Seafood. Give it a try. Don't dress "up"......but, use the patio on the wharf....and enjoy the pelicans and other water birds, watch the sailboats and fishing boats return up the channel.....the same on that ALL of the cruise ships use when leaving Cape Canaveral for their cruises, including the Disney cruise ships!

The evening was spent in some miniature golf at our hotel, another drink at the lounge, and then some reading and relaxing!!!!

TODAY!!! We were up and going fairly early, checked out of the Ron Jon Resort Hotel, and left for the Kennedy Space Center, about 20 minutes north of where we had been the past two days. We arrived about 9AM.......and OMG, WOW.....we didn't leave until almost 6pm!!!! What an incredible, MARVELOUS place this is!!!!!!!!!!!! We did the bus tour, which took us out close enough to see the point of the main fuel container to which the shuttle is NOW attached, sitting on the launch pad for the launch which will be on Nov 1st, if nothing goes awry!! With my zoom lens, it was easy to get some pics of the top part of the tank and of the rockets attached to each side of it. The shuttle is encased in other towers, etc....and was not visible, though.

Not having ever been to the Kennedy Space Center, I had no idea what to expect......but, it certainly exceeded anything I might have expected!!!!!!!!!!! We did sooooo much, saw sooooo much, enjoyed soooooooooo much all that they have to offer there!!!!!!!!!! We could have easily stayed for another day, as they were closing when we left......and there were shows/exhibits that we didn't have time to see nor enjoy. We did get to go up inside one of the shuttles, into the cargo area, and look into where the astronauts ride and live when they are out in space.....WOW!!!! Just amazing!! Then....the last thing we did was to go to the IMAX and see the film about the Hubble Telescope......OMG, OMG, OMG!!!!!! IF you ever have the opportunity to see this, do so......OMG!!!!!!! I was simply and totally overwhelmed with the photography and what it shows.....and what it says about the unfathomable universe out there. I have always known we are just a speck in this universe.......but this shows soooo well just how tiny a speck we actually are!!!!!!! I just cannot comprehend it all......impossible. PLEASE GO SEE THIS IMAX WHEN YOU CAN!!!!!!!!

Enthralled with the day, we reluctantly left and headed northward for St. Augustine. It only took a little over an hour.....and we are now in the Comfort Inn and Suites in a wonderful room for tonight and tomorrow night. Tomorrow we will tour the historic area of St. Augustine.....the oldest city in our great country!!!!! It has been at least 30 years since I have been here....and, I/we are really looking forward to the day!!!!

And sooooo, two amazing days......two marvelous days........two relaxing days. And, without a doubt.......

LIFE IS JUST ABSOLUTELY MARVELOUS AND AMAZING!!!!!!!.....And, I hope it is for all of you, also!!!!!!

Very good decision on the time share contract cancellation. As a general rule, you should never purchase real estate from a person who flags down your car on the street.

My sister lives in Tampa so we have visited Florida many times and done most of the touristy things. Visiting the Kennedy Space Center was my absolute favorite Florida spot. Glad you enjoyed your day.
