I sat my alarm for 5:30AM, Eastern time......and crawled out of bed and into the shower which didn't really help much in getting my body moving. However, within 50 minutes I had checked out, had a quick complimentary breakfast....yuk.....and some BAD coffee.....actually more like they had drug two coffee beans through a quart of water for the coffee.......yuk again!!! Heading towards I-64 entrance there in Huntington, WV......I was on the road by 6:30 and up to speed quickly as the hints of a sunrise behind me became noticeable.
Soon I was out of West Virginia..and Kentucky swept by me in a blur as I tried to focus from time to time on the horse farms. Indiana is always a pretty state....at least in the southern part of it....and Illinois....well, it is Illinois. By the time I entered Illinois I had decided to not go through STL, but to go south at Mt. Vernon and down to Cape Girardeau to get my sunglasses.
Just as I was crossing the Mississippi into Cape G., my phone rang and I got the message that Mike's mother-in-law had passed away this morning! WHAT NEXT!!!!???? Soooo, I went by Becky's house and visited with her for a bit.........this was not unexpected, but then it is always a shock when it does happen. I'm certain that little Rachel will be upset with the loss of her "Grandma"............the second Grandma in seven months. Arrangements have not been made, of course, as it has only been a few hours. Becky has a brother that has to fly over from N. Carolina........
Soooo, I went to LensCrafters......and DAMN!!!!! Those great sunglasses.....stylish and I really liked them......well, the "wrap" of the glasses will not allow the lenses that I need to work without putting everything out of focus. I am pissed, to say the least!!!!! Soooo, damn it....I spent an hour trying to pick out some other frames, insisting that they get the lenses made and into the glasses QUICKLY......as there are 5 more days before we leave for STL, NYC, and Cairo. Always a problem with my damn glasses!!!!!! Sick of this CRAP with a capital S.
On to F'town.......and the task of unloading the car....ugh!!!! It is certainly filthy after the 2200 miles in the past 4.5 days........tomorrow will be cleaning day.....perhaps.
I have added some pictures from the past few days at the bottom of this blog, along with the cover picture of a memorial of my cuz, Sonya Woten Hayes........and the back of it which I understand she wrote. It certainly does sound like her.........
And.....it will be a busy next few days......another funeral/memorial service(in STL), and then we also have my great-nephew's wedding on Saturday afternoon in Waynesville, MO. Hope I have time to get everything organized and packed........WHEW. The time is going to fly by soooo fast......and I guess when it is time to leave for STL, I'll just close the luggage and go!
But.....no matter the trials of daily Life and the surprises that each day can, and does bring.......
LIFE IS GREAT!!!!!......And, I hope it is for all of you, also!!!
