Day 28, Jan 28, 2010: Relaxing at TheHowserHouse

WOW......how wonderful it felt to not have to go anywhere or do anything or have any responsibilities!!!! And that is the way today disappeared......

Up at the regular time, morning rituals completed, and then my dark Fr. Roast coffee which I sipped on for most of this easy-going day. The 1st Lady left for about 2 hours to go to the laundromat here in this north section of the resort......there are three other laundromats in the resort.

I read the morning newspapers online while she was gone, plus: ran the vacuum, washed a few windows on the inside, washed some dishes, and then just kicked back for a while. After she returned, she had a very, very quick lunch........as.....

She and Diane left for McAllen to meet some other friends.....eleven other friends. They all were going to the Ropas on south 23rd Street in McAllen to visit some of the huge ropas there. Now, I am sure you are going to ask......what the hell is a ropa??? OK.......a ropa is a warehouse type building where there are literally tons and tons of clothes piled around...piled very, very high, and in such a jumbled mess that you must walk on top of these piles just to try to "plow" through them in the hope that you might find something that you could use!!!! No price tags........in most cases you pay by the lb.!!!!!!

Sooooo, these 13 friends went to several of these ropas.....and climbed up and up, around and down, over and below, pulling out articles of clothing from these mountainous piles.....and finding a few "treasures" that they purchased for some reason or another!!! HAHA!!!!! After a few hours, Diane and the 1st Lady went to Charlie and Katherine's RV for Happy Hour drinks and a few snacks.

OK.....Doug and I remained in our RV's.....he doing some work on his laptop...and this sagging hulk of Me doing some work on my laptop. We got together early afternoon for some coffee and conversation.......the topics being many and varied.....and then later, we got together again for wine and more conversation. What an AMAZING way to spend a relaxing day!!!!!!!!!!! This just doesn't happen very often and we both enjoyed it fully!!!

The girls called and said they were on their way....and after their return, we very quickly loaded up and went about 1.5 miles to FAT DADDY'S!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OMG.....this is such an incredible BBQ place to eat.....just wonderful. We each had a half rack of BBQ'd ribs....and the other things like beans, potato salad, coleslaw, bread, etc., etc. It was just a super meal....and the perfect way to end such a quiet and restful day!!!

LIFE IS JUST REALLY WONDERFULLY GREAT!!!!!!!.....And, I hope it is for all of you, also!!!!
