Day 24, Jan 24, 2010: Ahhhh......another beautiful and fun day!!

Retirement......or, what I call rebirth(you get to start all over again)......is one of the best parts of Life. Oh sure.....there are many variables which can, and DO affect a person's retirement Life......their health being the most important, but also, having planned adequately for fianancial security is of upmost importance! And, if proper planning has been put in place over the working years of a person's Life....then the years of retirement/rebirth can be a very wonderful part of Life, if not the BEST part of Life. And....I am sure that many, many might see things otherwise, as we each have our opinions which are to be respected. Right now.....for this sagging hulk of Me, these years are just absolutely incredible!!!

It will soon be 9 years since I retired.....and each year just seems to get better and better. And, for those of you who are reading this and retired, I hope you are healthy and enjoying your rebirth years of your Life!!!

Soooo, today.....was one of those days when Life seems soooo wonderful. After my morning rituals, our breakfast with French Roast coffee and her hot tea, we discussed the upcoming day....and then grabbed our bicycles and spent the next hour riding around the resort. We did make one stop, but after knocking on the door of a Cedar Creek owner, whom we met in Indiana a couple of years ago and who wasn't there this morning, we rode on around......looking at the neat and clean resort where we are spending our fourth winter. An hour or so later, we returned to TheHowserHouse....and I enjoyed another cup of coffee while watching the Sunday morning shows.

At 1pm......we were off to the Rec Hall for two hours of square dancing. Several other couples from other resorts/parks here in the RGV were there.....all of them great friends of ours....and so, the two hours went by with lots of fun, laughter, and just plain enjoyment of being together using our physical selves and our mental strengths to complete these intricate square dance calls. And believe me......it is such an amazing activity for both physical and mental exercise!!!!!!

Following the two hours, several of us went to Doug and Diane's motorhome for some dessert, some coffee, and a few other good things to eat, as well as small "doses" of the "1921" Creme de Tequila!!! OMG, but this is sooooo smooth and soooooo good!!!! I have written about it before this......it can only be purchased in six different places within the USA, so....it is available across the border in Progreso, Mexico.....and each time we go over, we purchase another bottle of this fine drink!!

When the group broke up, the 1st Lady and I stayed behind and we played some Euchre....a new card game for the four of us, but one that is great fun!!!!! Again....the four of us just seem to fit together soooo well.....we have sooo much in common with each other now.....and soooo much in common with our children and grandchildren.

About sundown, we decided to go get something to eat.....and wound up stopping at a small Italian restaurant just a little over a mile from here....."Cortinos"!! The 1st Lady and I ate there last winter.....and, it is one of the best places in the RGV to eat, bar none!!!! It is on Bus. 83 between International Blvd and Mile 2 West(the road leading to Llano Grande RV Resort). The prices are right....the portions of the meals are huge.....and the quality is outstanding!!! The 1st Lady and I shared on entree and each of us had a salad. Our meal was Veal in a lemon garlic butter sauce with linguine on the side, as well as a basket of garlic bread. OH SOOOO GOOD!!!!! The menu is huge......with lots of Italian seafood dinners.....and Doug/Diane shared an entree with mussels, shrimp, and scallops on pasta with an alfredo sauce covering the huge platefull of delicious food. The bill for the 1st Lady and I was $24 and change.......which included a bottomless cup of good coffee for myself. The service was wonderful, fun, and the server, well....she was a lot of fun with a great sense of humor!!!! Hey.....stop in there for a great dinner....you will not be sorry you stopped!!!!!!

And sooooo, a good movie here on the tellie this evening, a hot cup of tea.....and now to prepare for another BIG day tomorrow. We are going to a Aloe Farm.......a tour of the facilities with a lunch provided. More on this tomorrow night...........

One more thing tonight.......it has been suggested that all of the readers of this little blog who are currently in the RGV get together in the next couple of weeks or so......whether here at TheHowserHouse, or at a restuarant for a meal. This would be a wonderful chance to meet many of you, to hear your complaints, your ideas, and give me a chance to meet some of you face to face, rather than thru the typed word floating through cyberspace!! OK....THIS IS UP TO YOU........I NEED COMMENTS ON THIS TO SEE IF THERE ARE ENOUGH WHO WOULD LIKE TO DO THIS????!!!!! I think it would be great.....and I am old enough that the critiques from you would not bother me....haha!!!! Let me know!!!!!

Temps are cooling down tonight.....a low of 44 degrees expected....ugh! But, tomorrow back up in the 70's......YEAH!!!!! And, as always..........

LIFE IS JUST REALLY INCREDIBLY GREAT!!!!!!......And, I hope it is for all of you, also!!!!!!!!!!
