SUNDAY.....and today!!!

TODAY…Sunday????? Well, it could not have been a more perfect weather day for us to go to the Navy Pier……it was fantastic!!!!! The temps were in the upper 60’s to the low 70’s…..and the water was sooo blue and the brilliant sky above was cloudless and..…what more can be said??? GORGEOUS!!!!!

Leaving the hotel took some time..……time just to get all of the little toys packed up, and all of the bags and toys transferred down to Dr. Jeni’s Suburban……THANK GOD she now has that new vehicle!!!! We couldn’t have made it with everything it takes for two little girls without this large car/truck/whatever it is classified.……WHEW!!!

We arrived downtown, found the parking garage out on Navy Pier…..$23.00 to park there.…DAMN!!!!……and then squeezed the Suburban up the ramps and found a space really squeeze into. Soon we found ourselves outside and walking long the “Pier”…..taking in the sights, the sounds, the aromas, the many diverse people who were also strolling along the Pier……and just enjoying watching the two little girls’ eyes light up at the things they were seeing for the very first time!!!!!

As you might surmise.…..we took a large amount of pictures out there…..and we had a really great time.….thanks to the marvelous weather. After about three hours, we decided it was time for the late lunch we had planned…..and so, back to the car, slowly squeezed ourselves out of the garage….and soon found another parking garage close to the Rain Forest Restaurant. This is garage was only $12.…..WOW….a real deal!!!

Well, to say the least, the girls were enthralled with restaurant…..the décor, the animals that would come to life, the entire experience!!!!! And……they enjoyed the meal! I was quite pleasantly surprised as I have eaten at this chain several times in various locations.…and was not impressed by the food..…however, THIS time it was really outstanding!!!! I had the Shrimp Penne with sun-dried tomatoes, peas, mushrooms, and a wonderful cream sauce which was not too thick nor thin…..….just really great!!!! Now, on the negative side..…the coffee had been made with only 3.5 coffee beans!!!!! Sooooo weak!!!!!!

After lunch...in the middle of the afternoon..….we left and headed southwest....towards St Louis. BUT…….first we had to stop at IKEA…..and this supposedly “quick stop” last two hours!!! These stores have everything you could possibly need for a house.…..and at incredibly low prices. There are not very many stores located across the country, but…..if you are ever close to one, don’t fail to go see one!!!! You can also check them out online at their website..….

We finally got on the road about 7pm…..and arrived in STL around midnight....and then the 1st Lady and I arrived at the stick and brick a bit after 1am…..exhausted!!! A wonderful, wonderful weekend trip to one of my very favorite cities in the entire world!!!!!

Today???? We just kind of hung out around the house.….catching up on some things here at the stick and brick.……..and then later this afternoon, I grilled two more of those 1.5 inch thick rib eye steaks while the 1st Lady fixed another of her superb spinach and strawberry salads.….mummy!!!!!

And so.…..time to get ready for the extended trip which begins next week. Off to northeast Indiana…..Shipshewana…..and then to Niagara Falls….and then farther up into Ontario along the St. Lawrency Seaway…….and to many other sights and places.

And sooooooo, a relaxing day.….…and thoughts of our wonderful weekend ensures that.……

LIFE IS REALLY, REALLY GREAT!!!!!…..And, I hope it is for all of you, also!!!!
